        갈색여치의 일일행동패턴과 교미행동

        갈색여치는 최근 대발생으로 과수농가에서 피해가 급격히 증가하고 있다. 갈색여치의 종령 약충과 미성숙 성충, 성숙 성충에 대한 교미행동 및 일일행동패턴에 대하여 조사하였다. 일일행동패턴은 휴식, 이동, 섭식을 반복하였다. 종령 약충과 미성숙 성충의 일일행동패턴은 유사했다. 종령 약충은 평균 10:06에 활동을 시작하고 21:12에 휴식을 취한다. 미성숙 성충은 평균 11:30에 활동을 시작하고 20:08에 휴식을 취한다. 그러나 성숙 성충의 경우 15:30에 활동을 시작하는 차이를 보였다. 성숙 성충은 특정시간(약 20:00)대에 교미행동을 보인다. 갈색여치의 교미행동은 암컷의 spermatophylax를 섭취하게 되는데 다 섭취하기까지 270-360분이 소요된다. 갈색여치의 행동패턴은 이들의 발생양상과 생태를 알 수 있어 갈색여치를 방제하기 위한 기초자료로 이용될 수 있을 것이다. The ussur brown katydid, Paratlanticus ussuriensis (Orthoptera: Tettigoniidae), causes substantial damage in orchard areas in South Korea. Daily rhythm and mating behaviors were investigated in last instar nymphs, immature adults and mature adults of P. ussuriensis. The daily rhythm was repeated upon resting, moving, and feeding. The daily rhythm of the movement behavior similar in both last instar nymphs and immature adults. Last instar nymphs becoming active at 10:06 and ceasing activity at 21:12 in average. Immature adults becoming active at 11:30 and ceasing activity at 20:08 in average of totally 10 individuals. However, mature adults showed a different active time of 15:30. Generally, behavior was affected by the conditions of their environment, especially temperature. Mature adults activated later than nymphs and immature adults. Mature adults display mating behavior at a particular time of day (approximately 20:00). P. ussuriensis showed a mating behavioral sequence which was similar to related species in completely retaining the spermatophylax. Females took 270 min to 360 min to completely retain the spermatophylax. The daily rhythm of P. ussuriensis, indicating its occurrence and ecology, could be useful as basic data for managing field populations of P. ussuriensis.

        Insecticidal Activities of Polymers and Surfactants Against Sweet Potato Whitefly, Bemisia tabaci (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae)

        This study was performed to evaluate the polymers and surfactants as the potential control agents of sweet potato whitefly Bemisia tabaci, which is causing problems in ornamental garden and greenhouse. Polymers have an insecticidal activity to knock down and to be lethal to small winged insects by its viscosity. Among five polymers tested at 0.2% concentration, polinol P-24 showed the highest insecticidal activity as 59.4% against B. tabaci adult in cylindrical chamber, and followed by polinol P-20 (insecticidal activity, 57.1%). When treated at 0.1% or 0.3% concentrations, Polinol P-24 also showed the highest insecticidal activity with 43.3% and 54.5%, respectively. Among eight surfactants tested, insecticidal activity was the highest in 0.0005% NP10 treatment (70.0%), and followed by 0.001% NP7 (67.4%). The synergistic effect between polinol P-24 and eight surfactants was evaluated. After bioassays, the 0.2% polinol P-24 plus 0.005% NP10 was selected as a candidate control agent for controlling of B. tabaci adults. Polinol P-24/NP10 was showed the highest control efficacy against B. tabaci adults applied three times at three day-intervals in square rearing cage. In the greenhouse, the mixture treatment showed good control value over 70% seven days after treatment.

        Changes in cuticular hydrocarbons in different developmental stages of the bean bug, Riptortus pedestris (Hemiptera: Alydidae)

        The function of “cuticular hydrocarbons” (CHCs) in insects is to protect the body as well as chemical communication and recognition between species. Gas chromatography and mass spectrometry were used to compare the composition of CHCs in eggs, all nymph instars, and male and female adults of the bean bug,Riptortus pedestris (Hemiptera: Alydidae). CHC carbon chain numbers of each developmental stage ranged from 14 to 19 in eggs to the fourth nymph and were 24 in the last nymph. CHCs' carbon chain numbers in male and female adults increased from 16 to 23 and 16 to 27 until 6 days of age, respectively. Major components consisted of n-nonacosane in the larval stages, which changed to n-hentriacontane, n-heptacosane and 13,17-;15,19-demethyltritriacontane in adults. The major component from eggs was not identified. The major component from newly emerged adults was n-heptacosane. CHCs in different developmental stages of the bean bug consisted of n-alkanes with saturated hydrocarbons (27–63%), followed by mono or dimethyl alkanes. However, the CHCs of newly emerged female and male adults consisted mostly of methylalkanes. The major constituents of CHCs in the developmental stages of R. pedestris were proportionally different but showed only slight differences in composition.

        Repellent Efficacy of Caraway and Grapefruit Oils for Sitophilus oryzae (Coleoptera: Curculionidae)

        This study examined the repellent efficacy of six essential oils extracted from caraway, clary sage, grapefruit, strawberry, thyme white, ylangylang, and their related volatile constituents against the adult rice weevil, Sitophilus oryzae using an olfactometer. The caraway and grapefruit oil showed the highest repellent efficacy against the rice weevil at a dose of 10 ㎕. Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrophotometer analysis revealed caraway oil to be rich in carvone and limonene, and grapefruit oil to be rich in limonene, β-myrcene and α-pinene. When the monoterpene was mixed in equal parts with the caraway and grapefruit essential oils, carvone with limonene in caraway oil demonstrated the highest repellent efficacy (96.7%). Limonene with α-pinene and β- myrcene in grapefruit showed strong repellent efficacy (86.4%) with synergistic effects on the S. oryzae. A mixture of caraway and grapefruit oils, as well as carvone and limonene, can be potent repellents that may be useful for controlling S. oryzae.

        혼합 생균제의 급여가 육계의 생산성 및 계분의 유해가스 발생에 미치는 영향

        A study was conducted to examine the effect of dietary supplementation of multiple probiotics (EM ) on growth performance, blood cholesterol, intestinal microflora, and fecal gas emission in broiler chicks. A total of 450 one day old male broiler chicks (Ross×Ross) were divided into six treatments with five replications in each treatment for five weeks. Treatments were factorially designed with two levels of diet containing probiotics (D; 0, 0.2%) and three levels of drinking water containing probiotics (DW; 0, 0.01, 0.1%). Basal diets contained 21.5% CP and 3,100 kcal/kg ME for starting and 19% CP and 3,100 kcal/kg ME for finishing period. Weight gain, feed intake, and feed conversions of birds fed with probiotics were not significantly different between Ds. Total cholesterol and triglyceride levels were significantly lower (P<0.05) in birds fed with DW 0.01% or 0.1% compared with no probiotics group, but there was no significant difference between D treatments. The number of E. coli, Salmonella and Lactobacillus in the ileum and cecum of the birds fed multiple probiotics were not significantly different from those of no probiotic groups. There were no significant differences in the CO2 gas emissions of fecal between birds fed with Ds or among birds fed with DW. However, NH3 gas emissions of DW 0.1% were significantly lower (P<0.05) than DW 0%. In the results of this study, supplementation of probiotics tended to decrease the serum cholesterol and triglyceride compared to those of control groups and reduction of fecal NH3 gas emission. 본 시험은 육계에서 생균제의 효과를 구명하고자 사료와 음수에 혼합 생균제를 수준별로 첨가하여 5주간 사양시험을 시행하였다. 처리구는 Bacillus sp., Lactobacillus sp., Saccharomyces sp., Rhdobacter sp., Aspergillus sp. 균으로 이루어진 혼합 생균제를 사료에 0, 0.2% 수준으로 첨가하였고, 음수에는 0, 0.1, 1.0% 수준으로 급여하였다. 시험사료는 조단백질 함량을 전, 후기 각각 21.5%와 19.0%로 하였고, 에너지는 전, 후기 3,100 kcal/kg 수준으로 배합하였다. 조사항목은 생산능력을 주간별로 측정하였고, 시험 종료시 혈중 콜레스테롤 함량, 회장과 맹장의 내용물에서 E. coli, Salmonella, Lactobacillus 균수, 분에서 암모니아와 이산화탄소 가스 발생량을 조사하였다. 본 시험의 결과, 생균제를 사료에 첨가하여 급여한 D 0.2% 급여구는 D 0% 급여구와 비교하여 증체량, 사료섭취량, 사료요구율이 모든 조사기간에서 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 사료 급여구간에 혈중 총콜레스테롤, HDL, LDL-cholesterol 및 중성지방의 함량은 통계적인 차이는 없었지만, 음수 급여구에서 DW 1.0% 처리구의 혈중 총콜레스테롤 함량은 DW 0% 처리구에 비하여 유의적으로 감소하였다(P<0.05). 또한 중성지방 함량은 DW 0.1% 처리구에서 DW 0% 처리구에 비하여 현저하게 감소하였지만(P<0.05), HDL과 LDL-cholesterol의 함량은 차이가 없었다. 장내 미생물인 E. coli, Salmonella, Lactobacillus 균수는 회장과 맹장에서 사료와 음수 급여시 차이가 없었다. 계분의 암모니아와 이산화탄소 발생량은 사료 급여시 D 0%와 D 0.2% 처리구간에 차이가 없었지만, 음수 급여시 DW 0.1% 처리구는 다른 처리구에 비하여 암모니아 가스 배출량이 유의하게 감소하였다(P<0.05). 한편, 이산화탄소 발생량은 DW 처리구간에 차이가 없었다. 이러한 실험 결과, 생균제의 급여는 육계의 생산성과 장내 미생물의 변화에는 영향을 미치지 않았으나 음수로 급여시 혈중 콜레스테롤과 중성지방의 함량을 감소시켰고, 분내 암모니아 가스 발생량을 감소시키는 것으로 나타났다.

        Electronic commerce facilitates trade and lower transaction cost can help firms make use of the opportunities of globalization of production and markets. Electronic commerce has broad implications for future trade. These implications include the effect on trade policy making and enforcement. And it is important to ensure that the present and future trading system de jure and de facto allows electronic commerce to realize its potentials as an alternative or a complement to conventional trade. The comprehensive work program had been implemented to examine all trade-related issues relating to global electronic commerce before the Seattle 3rd Ministerial Conference which was suspended. In general, Member countries recognized the need to ensure that electronic commerce in all its forms is conducted in full conformity with WTO principles and rules. But, there are still major issues to be solved such as access to relevant electronic systems, competition policy in telecomnunications services, WTO provisions relating to the protection of IPRs, the clarification of a number of key concepts and definitions, etc.
