[목적] 청인이 현재 사용하고 있는 수어 이름의 형태·음운적 특징과 생성 환경적 특징을 밝혀 수어 이름에 관한 기초 연구 자료를 마련하는 것이다. [방법] 현재 농사회에서 활동하고 있는 20대부터 60대 청인 120명(남성 60명, 여성 60명)을 인터뷰 조사하여 수어 이름을 수집하였다. [결과] 첫째, 음운적 특징으로 남녀 모두 양손보다 주로 한 손으로 수어 이름을 표현하는 것으로 나타났다. 한 손 수어 이름의 수형은 남성에게서 19가지, 여성에게서 18가지가 나타났으며, 남녀 공통으로 나타난 수형은 없었다. 양손 수어 이름에서 남성에게만 나타난 수형은 오른손 6가지, 왼손 3가지, 양손이 같은 경우는 3가지였으며, 여성에게만 나타난 수형은 오른손 5가지, 왼손 3가지였다. 수위는 총 17곳으로 남성에게만 나타난 수위는 10곳, 여성에게만 나타난 수위는 3곳이 있었다. 주로 얼굴 내 각 부위에서 세부적으로 표현하였으며, 양손 수어 이름은 얼굴에서 표현하지 않았다. 수동은 손가락에서 6가지, 손목에서 3가지, 팔에서 9가지 유형이 나타났으며, 남녀 모두 ‘팔의 수동’이 가장 빈도 높게 나타났다. 둘째, 형태적 특징으로 남녀 모두 수어 이름에 대부분 성별 표지가 있으며, 여성의 수어 이름에서 가장 의도적이고 뚜렷하게 표현하였다. 수어 이름의 조어 유형은 8가지(한글 이름 성씨, 이름, 성씨와 이름, 외모, 특징, 업무, 기타, 복합)로 나타났으며, 외모를 반영한 수어 이름이 가장 많았다. 수어 이름의 의미는 남녀 모두 ‘긍정적’이 가장 높았다. 셋째, 생성 환경적 특징으로 수어 이름은 남녀 모두 20대에 생성된 빈도가 가장 높았고, 대부분 하루 이내에 만들어 졌다. 또한 수어 이름의 생성 장소는 수어 교실, 직장, 대학교, 교회 등이 있었으며, 연령대별로 빈도가 다르게 나타났다. [결론] 이상의 연구 결과와 농인의 수어 이름에서 나타난 선행 연구 결과를 중심으로 공통점과 차이점을 고찰하고, 향후 연구 방향을 제시하였다. [Purpose] This study aimed to analyze the creation background and morphophonological characteristics of name signs for Deaf people and hearing people. [Method] 120 hearing people aged 20-69 years were video interviewed. Interview data was subsequently analyzed. [Results] Phonological analysis revealed that both men and women expressed name signs with one hand rather than both hands. The analysis identified 19 types of one-handed name signs for men and 18 types of one-handed name signs for women. Men and women were found to use different hand shapes. In two-handed name signs for men, 6 types of right-hand shapes and 3 types of left-hand shapes were found, while 3 types were found in which both hands had the same shape; 5types of right-hand shapes and 3 types of left-hand shapes were found for women. A total of 17 location was found, with 10 locations only applying to men, and 3 locations only applying to woman. While name signs were mainly expressed in facial detail, it was not expressed on the face when moving both hands. In terms of movement types were found on the fingers, 3 on the wrist, and 9 on the arms, with arm movement being observed most often in both men and women. Morphological analysis revealed gender markers in both men and women, although these appeared more clearly in women. The analysis identified 8 types of name signs meaning (last name, First name, Full name, appearance, characteristic, job, etc., complex), and 'appearance' was the most frequent. As for the meaning of the name signs, 'positive' was the most common for both men and women. The creation background analysis revealed that name signs were created for both men and women in their twenties, and most name signs were created within a day. Name signs were created at work, place of worship, and KSL academies, and their frequency varied according to age. [Conclusion] Similarities and differences between the results of this study and those of previous studies were discussed, and future research directions were suggested.
