β線照射가 ALLOXAN에 依한 角膜病變에 미치는 影響에 關한 實驗的硏究

An attempt was made to evaluate the effect of Sr^90 beta irradiation on the lesion of the cornea of 25 adult albino rabbits (50 eyes) induced by injecting 2% Alloxan solution into the anterior chamber. Through the comparative studies of gross, biomicroscopic and histopathological changes observed in the corneas of the animals, following conclusion was made: 1. Early vascularization in the cornea of these animals were suppressed for 3 days following 3 fractionated irradiation, 500 rad, each, Nine days suppression was observed following a single dose of 1,500 rad and 3 fractionated irradiation, 1,000 rad, each. 13 days susppression was observed following a single dose of 3,000 rad. 2. The effect of 3 fractionated irradiation of 1,500 and 3,000 rad to the corneas of animals show a slight difference in suppression time. However, this difference was thought to be practically insignificant from the clinical point of view. 3. It appears that the beta irradiation with the dose of 3,000 rad seems to be more effective in sppressing the neovascularization of cornea of rabbits than that of 1,500 rad except the fact that the cornea showed edema, degeneration, necrosis and atrophy which certainly delay the corneal healing when the animal was given 3,000 rad.
