        The Innovative Heritage of the Urban Industrial Mission in the Korean Religious Market: A Case Study of YDP-UIM

        This article first traces how the Yeongdeungpo Urban Industrial Mission (YDP-UIM) applied their innovative strategies to the Guro Industrial Complex (GIC) and the Korean society from the 1960s. This article explains the sociohistorical and theoretical implications of YDP-UIM under the supervision of the Presbyterian Church of Korea into the following three aspects. First, many democratic labor unions supported or led by YDP-UIM played a significant role historically in establishing the Korean Federation of Trade Unions. Second, credit unions introduced to the GIC by YDP-UIM saw unexpected success in protecting GIC industrial workers from falling prey to institutionalized usurers, and the National Credit Union Federation of Korea has grown today to become the world’s third largest credit union federation. In-depth interviews with YDP-UIM’s leading activists, however, repeatedly reveal that their practical innovation was the result of their self-reflective interaction with industrial workers alienated from religion itself as well from established society. Finally, these interviews point out how and why the positive relationship between religious innovation and free competition posited by religious market theorists should be revised, both theoretically and empirically, in the Korean context.

        한국창가학회(KSGI)와 국제창가학회(SGI)의 평화주의에 대한 비교연구 -종교유형론적 관점에서-

        While existing studies of religious pacifism excluded the typological perspective on religions, the paper tries to make clear certain sectarian characteristics inherent in a ‘sectarian pacifism’, noting that they should be understood differently from the pacifism of established churches. In particular, despite the ideological and practical orientation of SGI peace activities, it is necessary to focus more on understanding sectarian specifications of KSGI that are bound to reflect the Korean context rather than SGI pacifism itself. Theoretically, the supply-side and demand-side aspects of Korean religious market are examined together to consider KSGI pacifism as a religious good, and further compare KSGI with the pacifism of Christian sects. For a better understanding of an increasing membership of KSGI, the paper also pays attention to social differences between KSGI and SGIs in USA, UK, and Australia. In conclusion, through the theoretical interpretation of sectarian pacifism, the paper argues that it is an essentially religious act that cannot be simplified into a political act or a social movement. 논문은 종교평화주의에 대한 기존의 연구들이 종교유형론적 관점과 특성을 배제 한 것과 달리, 종교유형론적 관점에서 ‘종파적 평화주의(sectarian pacifism)’라는 개 념으로 종파적 유형에서 두드러진 현상적 특징에 주목하여 그것이 한국창가학회와 국제창가학회에 의해 어떻게 그리고 왜 다르게 전개되고 있는지를 규명하고자 한다. 특히, 국제창가학회(SGI)가 추구하는 국제주의, 시민운동, 현세주의 및 인간중심주 의적 평화주의가 한국창가학회(KSGI) 평화활동의 이념적 및 실천적 지향점임에도 불구하고, 종교유형론적 관점에서는 평화주의 그 자체보다 한국적 맥락을 반영한 KSGI의 종파적 특수성을 더 중점적으로 이해할 필요가 있다고 주장한다. 이론적으 로는 종교재(宗敎財)로서 KSGI의 평화주의를 고찰하기 위해 종교시장의 공급 측면 과 수요 측면을 함께 검토하였고, 비교분석을 위해 미국, 영국, 호주의 창가학회, 여호와의 증인들 및 메노나이트와 같은 기독교종파들의 평화주의를 개괄적으로 검토 하였다. 결론적으로 논문은 창가학회의 평화주의에 대한 종교유형론적 비교분석에 근거하여 적어도 한국에서는 정치행위나 시민운동으로 발전하지 못한 한국창가학회 의 사회적 특수성에 대한 종교유형론적 접근의 중요성을 주장하고 있다.

        이진영상에서 바운딩 서클의 빠른 계산방법

        With the expansion of Internet, a variety of image databases are widely used and it is needed to select the part of an image what he wants. In contentsbased image retrieval system, Zernikie moment and ART Descriptors are used for shape descriptors in MPEG7. This paper presents a fast computation method to determine the radius of a bounding circle that encloses an object in a binary image. With conventional methods, the whole area of the image should be scanned first and the distance from every pixel to the center point be computed. The proposed 4directional scan method and fast circledrawing algorithm is utilized to minimize the scanning area and reduce the number of operations for computing the distance. Experimental results show that proposed method saves the computation time to determine the radius of a bounding circle efficiently.

      • B-53 : The hydration of glass of CaO-Al2O3 system

        There are many discussions about the hydration reaction of CaO-Al2O3-H2O system. But actually calcium aluminate phases in Portland cement were shown as interstitial phases, which are almost the state of glass including silicate ions. So the hydration reactions of those states are considered to show the difference with a pure crystal state of them. In this study the various glass states of calcium aluminates phases with a different mole ratio of CaO to Al2O3 were prepared. The glass states of calcium aluminate phases including a little silicate ion in their composition were also prepared. And then the hydration reaction of them was investigated in this study. The syntheses of various glass states of calcium aluminate phases with a different mole ratio of CaO to Al2O3 were carried out with the furnace designed in laboratory. The mole ratio of CaO to Al2O3 was varied form 0.5 to 1. The silicate ions were added to calcium aluminate glasses. The rates of heat evolution of mixtures, which have a solution-to-liquid phase weight ratio of 1, were measured at 20℃ by isothermal conduction calorimetry. The hydration reaction of calcium aluminate phase showed the difference as changing mole ratio of CaO to Al2O3, and the addition of silicate ion on the glass phase of calcium aluminate also affected the rate hydration.

      • 중금속이 칼슘설포알루미네이트의 클링커 반응 및 에트링자이트 생성에 미치는 영향

        유해 중금속을 다량 함유하고 있는 산업폐기물의 고화 처리에 사용되는 칼슘설포알루미네이트(4CaO$\cdot$$3Al_2O_3$$\cdot$$SO_4$이후부터 CSA로 기입) 의 제조를 위해 철강부산물인 압연 슬러지를 활용하여 그 특성에 대해 조사하였다. 본 연구에서는 철강 부산물인 압연슬러지 외에 석회석 미분물, 인산부산 석고를 혼합하여 칼슘알루미네이트상을 합성하였다. 합성 결과 소성온도 1250$^{\circ}C$에서부터 CSA가 합성되었고, 이와 함께 칼슘실리케이트 (2CaO$\cdot$$SiO_2$)와 칼슘알루미노페라이트(4CaO$\cdot$$Al_2O_3$$\cdot$$Fe_2O_3$)도 함께 합성되었다. CSA 합성에 미치는 중금속 영향을 관찰한 결과 원료의 중금속이 CSA 합성 온도를 낮추는 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. CSA를 이용한 철강산업 폐기물의 중금속 고용 처리 연구에서도 본 실험에서 합성된 CSA가 폐기물의 중금속 고화 처리에 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다.

        석회석의 하소 특성이 수화 활성도 및 침강성탄산칼슘 생성에 미치는 영향

        Precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) is known as purified and refined synthetic calcium carbonate. PCC is synthesized through calcination process to convert limestone to quicklime, hydration process to make slaked lime and carbonation process to produce precipitated calcium carbonate. PCC is largely classified into calcite (stable phase) and aragonite (metastable phase), and this polymorphism is due to the characteristics of limestone ores and the differences of calcination/hydration/carbonation process conditions. In this study, the effects of the calcination and hydration behavior on the synthesis of PCC will be discussed using limestone with different chemical composition. 침강성탄산칼슘은 순수한 합성 탄산칼슘으로 알려져 있다. 침강성탄산칼슘은 석회석으로부터 생석회 (quicklime, CaO)화하는 하소 공정과 생석회를 물과 반응하여 소석회(Slaked lime, Ca(OH)2)를 합성하는 수화 공정, 소석회를 이산화탄소와 반응시켜 침강성탄산칼슘을 생성시키는 탄산(Carbonation) 공정을 통해 합성된다. 대표적인 침강성탄산칼슘으로 안정상인 칼사이트와 준안정상인 아라고나이트가 있으며, 이러한 동질이상의 차이는 석회석의 광물상의 특징과 하소반응, 수화반응, 탄산화반응의 조건에 따라 발생된다. 본 연구에서는 각기 다른 지역의 석회석 을 이용하여 석회석 하소반응과 이에 따른 수화 활성도, 침성탄산칼슘의 생성 거동에 대해 고찰하였다.

        Na2CO3의 첨가에 따른 석탄 선탄 폐석의 소결 상변화 연구

        To use a tailing obtained from coal beneficiation as a raw material for glass material, the behaviors of phase transformation of the tailing was investigated according to sintered temperature with the addition of Na2CO3. As a result of the experiment, mullite was formed at 700~1,100 ℃, and the mullite and the cristobalite just only existed at 1,450 ℃. The glassification ratio of the coal tailing was to be 97.9 wt.% at 1,450 ℃ with the addition of Na2CO3 to tailing weight ratios of 10 wt.%. However, in the case of sample of coal tailing with 20 wt.% Na2CO3 added, nepheline(Na2O·Al2O3·2SiO2) was produced during the re-sintering(2nd sintering) at 1,100 ℃. From the results, the suitable addition amount of Na2CO3 for glassification of coal tailing was found around 10 wt.%. 선탄 폐석의 유리 소재 원료로의 활용을 위해 선탄 폐석의 고온 상 전위 거동 및 Na2CO3의 첨가에 따른 유리질(비정질)화 실험을 실시하였다. 실험 결과 700~1,100 ℃에서 소성된 선탄폐석에는 mullite가 생성되고, 1,450 ℃에서는 mullite와 cristobalite만이 존재하였다. 선탄 폐석의 유리질화는 Na2CO3 첨가됨에 따라 진행되었으며, Na2CO3 10 wt.% 첨가 후 1,450 ℃ 온도에서 소성된 선탄 폐석의 유리질화는 97.9 wt.%로 나타났다. 그러나 Na2CO3가 20 wt.% 첨가된 선탄 폐석의 시료의 경우, 1,100 ℃에서의 2차 재소성 과정에서nepheline(Na2O·Al2O3·2SiO2)이 생성되었으며, 이를 통해 선탄폐석의 유리질화를 위한 최적의 Na2CO3 첨가량은 10 wt.%로 나타났다.

        한국대형교회의 ‘사사화’에 관한 재해석: - 새로운 패러다임의 관점에서

        Protestantism is the second largest religion in Korea with almost nine million followers or nearly 20 percent of the country’s 50 million people. That is, about one in every five South Korean is Protestant. Its growth had been particularly pronounced from the early 1960s to the end of the 1980s, the period of the country’s remarkable industrialization and modernization. Since the early 1960s, when Korea’s Protestants scarcely topped the one million mark, the number of Protestant Christians increased faster than in any other country, nearly doubling every decade. The remarkable growth of Korean Protestantism, however, has not been without problems. These problems have been discussed in terms of ‘privatization’ derived from secularization thesis. As this paper shows, one of the most glaring problems has been the structure of the church in which the senior pastor has too much power, with the role of church elders largely relegated to that of supportive role rather than supervisory or monitoring role. Another problem has been an over-emphasis on church growth has bred the perception that bigger is better, leading many churches to devote practically all of their resources to achieving growth of church members. Other problems of the church include the lack of transparency in financial matters, cronyism between church and state, and the senior pastorship being passed down to the son. This paper tries to show how the ‘privatization’ phenomena of Korean mega-churches can reinterpreted as a mixture of religious privatization and de-privatization, secularization and de-secularization, and private and public religion in terms of the new paradigm of the sociology of religion.
