Complete atrioventricular (AV) block is defined as a dissociation of atrial and ventricular activities. Complete AV block that occurs during the perioperative period is difficult to reverse and usually requires implantation of a pacemaker. Propofol does not affect a normal AV conduction system but may act as a trigger for AV block. It can also potentiate vagal stimulation factors and reduce sympathetic activity. We report a case of complete AV block that may have been related to administration of propofol.

ESG경영에 대한 분석과 이해: ㈜셀트리온 사례를 중심으로

The main purpose of this study is to enhance the understanding of non-financial management, which has become increasingly important, by analyzing the environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) of Celltrion Inc. The analysis was conducted for the period from 2017 to 2019. It was found that, in terms of the environment, Celltrion has been making efforts to improve its environmental management, environmental education, carbon emission management, and environmental hazardous substances management. However, Celltrion’s efforts to develop eco-friendly products have been somewhat insufficient. With regard to its social efforts, Celltrion has sought to improve its human resource management system by increasing female recruitment, salaries, and welfare benefits and to increase its industrial and product safety. However, its donation-related activity has been insignificant, thus improvement is necessary in this area. Finally, in evaluating its governance, the extent to which it has promoted voting rights has been low, and the absence of outside female directors is somewhat disappointing. This study is meaningful in that users can obtain non-financial information from companies based on the disclosed ESG information and use this for decision-making. In addition, this study highlights the need for improvement in ESG management by identifying the level of a company’s sustainability management. Celltrion has not published any sustainability management reports. Thus, it should transparently disclose its sustainability management activities and the results to all stakeholders. 본 연구는 ㈜셀트리온의 ESG 분석을 통해 점차 중요해지고 있는 비재무적 활동(수준)에 대한 이해 및 이해관계자의 관심을 제고하는 데 주된 연구목적이 있다. 본 연구에서는 2017년부터 2019년까지의 기간을 대상으로 분석을 실시하였으며 주된 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 환경(E) 영역의 경우 환경경영과 환경교육, 탄소배출량 관리 및 환경 유해물질관리에 노력하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 환경친화적 제품 개발에 대한 노력이 다소 부족하다고 평가된다. 둘째, 사회(S) 부문에서는 여성채용, 급여, 복리후생비 등 인적자원관리 시스템 및 산업・제품 안전에 노력하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 사회적 활동에서 기부와 관련된 활동이 미미하다고 평가되며 이에 대한 개선이 필요하다고 판단된다. 셋째, 지배구조(G)를 살펴보면 의결권 행사 활성화 수준이 낮다고 평가되며 여성 사외이사가 없는 것은 다소 아쉬운 부분이다. 본 연구는 공시된 ESG 내용을 바탕으로 정보이용자들이 기업의 비재무적 정보를 얻고 이러한 정보를 의사결정에 활용할 수 있다는 것에 의의를 둔다. 그리고 기업의 지속가능경영에 대한 수준을 파악함으로써 ESG 경영에 대한 개선을 촉구하고자 한다. ㈜셀트리온의 경우 지속가능(경영)보고서에 대한 발간이 확인되지 않는데 향후에는 지속가능경영 활동과 이에 대한 결과를 모든 이해관계자들에게 투명하게 공시함으로써 지속가능경영에 대한 성과를 함께 공유하는 모습이 필요하다고 생각된다.
