Subsea separation is an emerging technology that requires new and optimized solutions. Subsea separation system should be reliable to ensure successful operation in a wide range of 3-phase flow regimes, without need for maintenance. Separating gas, oil, water, and sand at the seabed has great economic potential for many subsea field developments. A subsea separator can avoid or simplify costly surface platforms or floating vessels, as well as being an efficient tool to enhance hydrocarbon production. One solution of interest is the separation and re-injection of water at the seabed to avoid bringing the water up to the surface facility. In this study, subsea separation system and its foreign and domestic development status are introduced.
ROV 진수 및 회수시스템(LARS)의 구조 안정성 평가

According to the recent trend for developing natural resources, the high-technology equipment on the exploration ships is getting more technologically advanced. One of the high-technology equipment is the ROV launch and recovery system (LARS). ROV LARS is essential equipment of drilling system package for offshore plant. In this study, the telescopic boom crane is divided into two parts, umbilical winch and telescopic boom crane, and it is respectively designed three dimensional models using CATIA. And, dynamic simulation and structural analysis are performed using ANSYS. In the results, the strain is identified and some stress is concentrated, but the strain is very small and the maximum stress value is lower than the allowable stress. Thus, the structure does not have any impact on the strain and stress, and it is determined that the structure is safely designed. These results will be used for future ROV LARS new design technology development.
극저온 배관용 고망간강의 S-N 피로 및 피로균열전파 거동

The S-N fatigue and fatigue crack propagation behavior of Fe24Min (Fe-0.4C-24Mn) and Fe15Mn (Fe-0.7C-15Mn-3Al) austenitic steel was investigated at 298 K and 110 K, and the results were compared to those of STS304L (Fe-1 Si-2Mn-20Cr-10Ni) counterparts. The resistance to S-N fatigue of high-Mn steels was greater at 298 K, while it was lower at 110 K, than STS304L steel. High-Mn steels did not show any notable transformation induced plasticity (TRIP) and twining-induced plasticity (TWIP) effect under fatigue loading at ambient and cryogenic temperatures. The S-N fatigue behavior of high-Mn steel was largely dependent on tensile strength at both ambient and cryogenic temperatures, In the case of fatigue crack propagation, the near-threshold ΔK (ΔK<SUB>th</SUB>) values increased with decreasing temperature.

The implementation of subsea separation and liquid boosting are becoming a common development scheme for the exploration of deep water fields. Subsea separation system is an attractive and economic solution to develop subsea offshore fields producing fluid without hydrate or wax. Subsea separation system should be reliable to ensure successful operation in a wide range of multiphase flow regime without need for developments. A subsea separator can avoid or simplifying costly surface platforms of floating vessels as well as being an efficient tool to enhance hydrocarbon production. In this study, multiphase(liquid-liquid) flow characteristics inside in-line type subsea separator is investigated for the design of subsea separation system.

In this study, the flow characteristics and separation efficiency of liquid-liquid mixture inside in-line type subsea separator are investigated for the design optimization of in-line type liquid-liquid subsea separation system.

In the present study, the S-N fatigue and the fatigue crack propagation (FCP) behaviors of API X80 steel in various environments were examined in the different locations of base metal (BM), weld metal (WM) and heat affected zone (HAZ) at 298, 223 and 193K and in artificial seawater under various cathodic protection potentials. The resistance to SN fatigue of X80 BM specimen increased greatly with decreasing temperature from 298 to 193K and showed a strong dependency on the flow strength (1/2(yield strength + tensile strength)). The FCP rates of X80 BM specimen was substantially reduced with decreasing temperature from 298 to 223K over the entire ΔK regime, while further reduction in FCP rates was not significant with temperature from 223 to 193K. The CP potential of -850 and -1,050 mVSCE suppressed the environmental effect of seawater on the FCP behavior of X80 BM and WM specimens, showing almost identical da/dN-ΔK curves for both air and seawater environments. The S-N fatigue and FCP behaviors of high strength X80 steel in various environments were discussed based on the microstructural and the fractographic observations.
