병원은 왜 폐업하는가?: Cox 비례위험모형을 중심으로

Background: Limited access to medical services causes problems in patients' health and life. Also, hospital closures cause concentration towards general hospitals, which leads to worsening National Health Insurance finance. Therefore, hospital closure is an important topic to be analyzed. Methods: This paper analyzed the factors that affect hospital closures using survival analysis with the data of 970 hospitals opened between 2010 and 2019 in Korea. The number of medical personnel, hospital rooms, sickbeds, and medical departments were used as explanatory variables. Results: The number of medical personnel and hospital rooms increased the survival probability while the number of sickbeds and medical departments decrease the survival probability. Conclusion: The results suggest that hospitals have economies of scale and diseconomies of scope in management.

영화 상영시장에서의 흥행 결정요인 : 생존분석 방법론을 이용한 서울 자료 분석

This study examined determinants affecting the screening period in the Korean movie screening market by using survival analysis. The movie score and the number of movie screens at the release day of a movie were statistically significant by using the survival analysis of log-logistic accelerated failure time model with 2,003 movies that are released in the Korean movie screening market in the period of 2007.1.1. ~ 2019.12.31. We identified that the consumer power is increasing while the supplier power is decreasing. Also, We found that the factors influencing on the screening period differ by the genres of movies. 본 연구는 한국에서 상영되는 영화의 박스오피스 10위권 내 생존기간 결정에 영향을 미치는 요인에 대해 생존분석(Survival Analysis)을 사용하여 분석한다. 2007.1.1. ~ 2019.12.31.의 기간 중 한국 상영시장에서 개봉된 2,003편의 영화를 대상으로 한Log-logistic 가속화 고장시간 모형(Accelerated Failure Time Model) 생존분석을 통해영화의 박스오피스 10위권 내 생존기간 결정요인을 살펴보았다. 분석 결과, 평점과 개봉당시 스크린 수가 유의한 영향을 미쳤고, 장르는 생존기간에 상이한 영향을 미쳤다. 연도가 지남에 따라 평점이 생존기간에 미치는 영향이 증가하는 결과로 미루어 보아 영화상영시장에서 소비자의 영향력이 증대됨을 알 수 있다. 또한, 영화의 장르에 따라 생존기간 결정에 영향을 미치는 요인들이 상이하게 나타나는 것을 보였다.

근로여건이 임금근로자의 이혼에 미치는 영향 : 맞벌이 부부를 중심으로

This study examined the determinants that affect divorce by conducting Cox proportional hazards survival analysis on 1,516 dual-income wage worker couples who married after 1970. We use the Korea Labor and Income Panel Study (KLIPS) from 1998 (first wave) to 2021 (twenty-fourth wave) and the Korean Working Conditions Survey (KWCS) from 2006 (first wave) to 2020 (sixth wave). We find that husband’s working hours, overtime work, and full-time work, and wife’s working hours are statistically significant on their divorce. When husband’s average working hours per week increase by 1 hour, the probability of divorce increases by about 5.8%. Likewise, when wife’s average working hours per week increase by 1 hour, the probability of divorce increases by about 6.4%. We obtain consistent results with the sample including the self-employed. These results suggest that long working hours in Korea are related to the divorce rate. 본 연구는 1970년 이후 결혼한 부부 1,516쌍을 대상으로 Cox 비례위험모형을 이용한 생존분석을 진행하여 이혼을 야기하는 요인들을 살펴보았다. 분석자료로는 1998년(1차) ~ 2021년(24차) 한국노동패널(KLIPS)와 2006년(1차) ~ 2020년(6차) 근로환경조사(KWCS)를 이용하였다. 분석결과, 근로에 관련된 변수 중 남편과 아내의 근로시간, 남편의 초과근로 여부와 남편의 전일제 여부가 임금근로자 부부의 이혼에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 남편의 주당 평균 근로시간이 1시간 늘어날 때, 약 5.8%의 이혼 확률 증가가, 아내의 주당 평균 근로시간이 1시간 늘어날 때, 약 6.4%의 이혼 확률 증가가 있었다. 근로시간에 대한 분석결과는 자영업자를 분석에 포함시켰을 때도 일관된 결과가 도출되었다. 본 연구의 분석결과들은 한국의 긴 근로시간이 이혼 발생과 관련되어 있음을 시사한다.

지역거점 공공병원의 수익성 결정요인 - COVID-19 유행기간을 중심으로 -

Purposes: We analyzed the profitability determinants of regional public hospitals during the entire period between 2010 and 2020 and the period before and after COVID-19. We intended to provide fundamental data for developing publicness evaluation index and task of establishing and expanding regional public hospitals. Methodology: The financial and non-financial information of the regional public hospitals were used as the main analysis data; The financial data was established by the Center for Public Healthcare Policy of National Medical Center, and the non-financial data by the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service. T-test and regression analysis were used. Findings: The results can be summarized in two. First, the main determinants of profitability of the regional public hospitals were appeared to be the total asset turnover rate and the labor cost rate. Second, during the COVID-19 pandemic in the regional public hospitals, the number of sickbeds, the number of isolation rooms, the total asset turnover rate and the labor cost rate appeared to be the factor worsening the profitability. Practical Implication: The results of this study suggests that the management of the regional public hospitals is not aiming for the profit making, but it performs the functions as the community healthcare safety net such as controlling infectious diseases.
