신체상평정척도들은 체형 불만족을 확인하는 하나의 도구로 다양한 학문분야에서 활용되어 왔다. 이 연구는 무용전공자들은 체형범주를 어떻게 분류하고 있으며 그러한 분류는 대한비만학회가 제시한 BMI체형분류기준을 준거로 추정된 기준과 어느 정도 일치하는가를 검토하는데 목적이 있다. 이 연구의 대상은 서울 경기지역에 소재하고 있는 대학에 재학 중인 무용전공여자 대학생으로부터 표집된 431명이다. 선정된 신체상평정척도는 `Contour Drawing Rating Scale`(CDRS: Thompson & Gray, 1995)에 기초하여 체형그림을 17개로 확장한 척도(Shroff, 2004)를 사용하였다. BMI 체형분류기준에 해당하는 CDRS의 척도점을 추정하기 위해 회귀분석방법을 적용하였다. 그리고 CDRS의 체형범주별 기준을 설정하기 위해 응답자반응특성(Receiver Operating Characteristic)곡선을 이용하였다. 그리고 무용전공자가 지각한 체형범주별 기준과 BMI의 체형범주별 분류기준과의 일치도를 검토하기 위해 교차분석 방법과 Spearman의 등위차상관계수(P)를 산출하였다. 분석결과 1) 무용전공자가 판정한 체형범주별 분류기준과 대한비만학회가 제시한 BMI를 준거로 분류한 기준 간에는 통계적으로는 유의한 상관계수(P=.36)를 나타내고 있으나 분류 일치도는 높지 않다. 2) 무용전공자가 판정한 CDRS의 체형범주별 분류기준은 BMI를 준거로 한 체형분류 기준과 비교해 볼 때 일관성 있게 과대평가되고 있다. 3) 무용전공자가 지각한 CDRS의 체형범주별 기초통계치에 의하면 17개 체형그림 전체범위에 걸쳐 체형범주를 분류하고 있다. 4)분석된 결과를 기초로 체형범주별 기준표가 제시되었다. 기준표는 CDRS에 의해 무용전공자 혹은 여자대학생들의 현재 체형과 이상적 체형을 조사할 경우 체형범주별 기준점을 해당 체형점에 표기함으로써 주관성을 가능한 배제하는데 도움을 줄 수 있을 것이다. Figure rating scale has been utilized in the field of diverse disciplines as one of tools for estimating Body dissatisfaction. The present study was an attempt to examine the degree of agreement between estimated cut-off score for the selected Figure rating scale and weight category classification score of BMI developed by Korea Society for the Study of Obesity. A total 431 college female dance major students were selected from seven different college lecture classes randomly selected. All participants were assessed on height and weight and Contour Drawing Rating Scale (CDRS) developed by Thompson and Gray (1995) and extended by Shroff (2004). Multiple regression analysis and Receiver Operating Characteristic curve method were applied to estimate the cut-off points pertaining to BMI weight classification index and to establish the standard for CDRS`s weight categories, respectively. Cross-tabulation and Spearman`s rho were calculated to examine the degree of agreement between cut-off score estimated by the dance major students for the CDRS and weight category classification score of BMI. It was found that the agreement between those two scores is not high, even though Spearman`s rho (.36) between them is statistically significant. The cut-off scores estimated by the dance major students for the CDRS were over-estimated consistently than the cut-off scores established based on standard of BMI weight category. The present study developed the CDRS standard for the weight categories of BMI on the basis of the results.
