Plastic sound-proof wall is an installation-structure to absorb noise and it is consist of main plate, sound absorption plate and sound absorption material. Plastic sound-proof wall has many advantages compared to existing products - light weight, anti-corrosion, long durability, easy assembly, fast construction and low cost. In this study, instead of injection molding, extrusion molding process was applied to fabricate main plate. New plastic sound-proof wall was made by assembling main plate and sound absorption plate made by press machine. In this process, extrusion molding dies and punch die were designed and profile extrusion molding process system was developed.

The analysis of injection molding process by CAE is widely used in development of plastic products. That comes from the fact that CAE analysis can reduce trial and error based on optimized design. On this study, by use of MOLDFLOW, the causes of product defects were found and solved by trade-off study. CAE analysis includes Flow-Cool-Warpage Analyses and finally a new mold-die design with better product quality was suggested. On injection molding of round-shaped plastic fan, new mold-die system with 4-tunnel gates located on the edge of a fan disc shows better quality rather than pin-point gate located on the center of a disc. That was effective in terms of flow mark removal and flatness improvement of the product.

On this study, injection molding product of rectangular tray structure with thickness 0.25mm and aspect ratio(length/thickness) approximately 150 conducted. Technical aspects were reviewed on mold-die design and injection molding conditions. To have a thin-membraned plastic part, short-shot, shrinkage, twist, whitening and flash problems were considered and resolved. After measuring products, validity of this study and future improvement were discussed.

The atmospheric humidity is varied between 30% and 90% with season in Korea. Thus the influence of humidity on the behavior of wear is important to predict the wear for tools and dies. This paper presents the influence of atmospheric humidity on the wear of carbon steels for the un-lubricated pin-on-disk sliding contact. It was found that the severe wear is dominant at a low humidity and the mild wear is strongly related with the carbon concentration of the steel at a high humidity in this study. The experiments were caned out in a chamber where the humidity was accurately maintained by humidifier. To investigate the relationship, three different carbon steels such as 1020, 1041, and 1045 steels were used.

The reorientations of the atoms by frictional shear deformation at the surface induce cracks at the boundary of the grain. The cracks grow and propagate in regions where the hydrostatic component of stress is least com-pressive because the compressive component restores the cracks by three-dimensional crystallizing π-bondings. The materials, with Luder's band have very small amount of wear at the initial state. It suggests that initial frictional shear deformation be consumed to the formation of the Luder's band. The average wear amounts of the materials increase very steeply as the ø_u, the stress-strain ratio at the ultimate point, decreases.
