The brake-by-wire(BBW) system, which is also called the EMB(Electro-Mechanical Brake) system, has become a promising vehicle braking control scheme. Fault detection and diagnosis becomes increasingly important for the robust BBW system. In this paper, the clamping force sensor fault estimation algorithm is proposed with parity equation method for EMB system. At first, modeling of EMB system including PMSM(Permanent-Magnet Synchronous Motor) was carried out. Also, in order to verify the EMB model, the simulation result is compared to EMB test bench result. The model based fault estimation algorithm is verified through the closed loop simulation.
