        조생 중산간지 적응 복합내병성 고품질 벼 ‘성산’

        ‘Seongsan’, an early multi-resistant japonica rice cultivar developed from a cross between ‘Jopyeong’ and ‘Jungmo 1012’, was developed by the rice breeding team of the National Institute of Crop Science, Rural Development Administration. The average heading date at the ordinary planting was July 25th in seven test spots. In response to physiological stresses, premature heading rate was very low and viviparous germination rate was relatively low (15.7%). In response to biotic stresses, ‘Seongsan’ showed resistance to bacterial blight pathogen K1 to K3, rice stripe virus, and blight leaf. The milled rice of ‘Seongsan’ was translucent with relatively clear non-glutinous endosperm and medium short grain. The cooked rice had good palatability compared with that of ‘Chucheong’. The milled rice yield of this variety was approximately 5.52 MT/ha in a three-year local adaptability test. ‘Seongsan’ was an early maturing multi-resistant rice with good grain quality, and it was expected to be used as a representative for maturity diversification of rice cultivation area (Registration No. 7277).

        남부평야지에서 고품질 쌀 생산을 위한 "수광"의 적정 이앙시기

        A field experiment was conducted to determine the optimal transplanting date for ‘Sukwang’, a high grain quality japonica rice, in the southwestern plain area in South Korea. 25-day-old seedlings were transplanted four times by 15 days interval on May 16, June 1, 16, and 30 in 2013 and 2014. Heading dates were August 12 and August 29 in the first and the last transplanting, respectively. Ripening ratio was highest in June 1 and June 16 plots at range of 93 - 94%, and was lowest in 16 May plot. Milled rice yield was the highest in June 1 and June 16 at rage of 538 - 555 kg/10a, and was the lowest in May 16. Head rice yield showed same tendency to milled rice yield. Protein content was not significantly different among treatments except June 1, however, it was slightly increased in the later transplanting plots. Amylose content was increased in the later transplanting plots. According to the regression curve of transplanting dates and grain yield, the optimal transplanting date of ‘Sukwang’ was June 10 in the southwestern plain area in Korea.

        생육시기별 차광 처리에 의한 고구마 생육 및 수량성 평가

        최근 기상이변으로 인한 일조부족이 문제되어 작물의 수량 감소 피해가 발생하고 있다. 본 연구는 생육시기에 따라 차광량을 달리하여 고구마의 생육양상 및 수량 감소 정도를 구명하고자 수행하였다. 1. 생육시기별 차광률은 55% 차광 처리시 약 51%, 그리고 75% 차광 처리시에는 약 65% 수준의 차광률을 보였다. 차광처리에 의한 광계 II 암적응 최대양자수율(Fv/Fm) 조사 결과는 호감미와 진율미 두 품종 모두 대조구와 55% 차광 시험구는 유의적인 차이를 보이지 않았고 75% 차광 시험구의 경우 대조구 보다 약간 높은 수치를 보였다. 2. 차광 처리 50일 경과 후 처리별 광합성에 이용되는 색소의 함량을 조사하였다. 호감미와 진율미 두 품종 모두 차광처리구의 엽록소 a와 b의 함량이 대조구에 비하여 유의적으로 증가하는 경향을 나타내었다. 특히 엽록소 b의 함량은 더 많은 비율로 증가 하였다. 호감미의 경우 대조구에 비하여 55%와 75% 차광처리구에서 각각 47%, 41% 증가하였고 진율미의 경우는 각각 39%, 34% 엽록소함량이 증가하였다. 3. 괴근형성기(정식 후 50일간)와 생육 중기(정식 후 50~90일 사이)에 차광처리 시 생육특성을 조사하였다. 지상부 및 지하부 건물중 역시 두 품종 모두 대조구에 비하여 차광 처리 시 감소하였다. 특히 괴근 형성기에 두 품종 모두 수량이 감소하였다. T/R율은 차광처리에 의하여 두 품종 모두 증가하는 경향을 나타내었다. 괴근형성기 및 비대기에 일조량이 부족할 경우 두 품종 모두 전반적으로 괴근 형성 및 비대가 억제되는 경향을 보였다. 4. 수확 후 수량 조사 결과 두 품종 모두 생육시기별 차광 처리에 따라 괴근 비대가 저조한 양상을 띠었으며, 특히 호감미가 수량감소폭이 진율미에 비해 상대적으로 크게 나타났다. 또한 차광처리가 높을수록 수확량도 크게 감소되었다. 괴근 형성기와 괴근 비대성기에 비하여 괴근 비대기에 두 품종 모두 수량 감소의 큰 영향을 받았다. This study was conducted to determine the degree of reduction in the yield of sweetpotato subjected to different shading treatments according to the growing season of the typical viscous sweetpotato 'Hogammi' and the powdery sweetpotato 'Jinyulmi'. Shading was provided using commercially available shading nets (55% and 75% shading level), and the treatments were applied at the following stages of storage root growth: SFS: the storage root formation stage (planting-50<sup>th</sup> day), SSS: the storage root swelling stage (50-90<sup>th</sup> day), and SAS: the storage root actively swelling Stage (90-120<sup>th</sup> day). The growth characteristics according to shading treatments during each growth period, the number of tubers obtained at harvest, and sugar contents were investigated. For both assessed cultivars, there was no significant difference between the control group and the 55% shading treated group with respect to the maximum quantum yield (Fv/Fm) of photosystem II under different shading treatments, whereas the 75% shading group showed slightly higher values than the control group. In both cultivars, the contents of chlorophyll a and b tended to increase in plants subjected to shading treatments compared with the control plants, particularly that of chlorophyll b. Compared with the control group, the chlorophyll b content of 'Hogammi' subjected to 55% and 75% shading increased by 47% and 41%, respectively, whereas that of 'Jinyulmi' increased by 39% and 34%, respectively. We also detected reductions in the dry weights of the above- and belowground parts of the two varieties in response to shading compared with the control, with the reduction in the dry weight of belowground parts being significant. Furthermore, in both varieties, the T/R rate tended to increase in response to shading treatment. Owing to the lack of sunlight, both cultivars tended to suppress the formation and enlargement of tuber roots. Consequently, post-harvest yield analysis revealed that under shading treatments, both cultivars were characterized by poor tuber root growth according to growing season, with the yield of 'Hogammi' showing a greater reduction compared with that of 'Jinyulmi'. In addition, we found that the higher shading level also significantly reduced yields. Compared with the storage root formation and storage root actively swelling stages, shading treatments during the storage root swelling stage significantly affected yield reduction in both varieties.

        자포니카 벼 입형 다양화 육종소재 개발 및 특성 분석

        To diversify the grain size and shape of japonica rice, we developed the Breeding Materials with Diverse Grain Size and Shape (BM_DGS) and characterized the grain and yield-related traits. We used the donor parents Jizi1560 and Jizi1581, japonica germplasm with extremely large grain size. Four cross combinations between the each donor parents and Korean high yielding japonica rice cultivars, Deuraechan and Boramchan, were constructed and anther culture method was applied. Among 290 doubled haploid lines, we selected 91 elite lines with diverse grain size and shape and designated to the BM_DGS. The grain size and shape of BM_DGS exhibited beyond the characteristics of previously developed Korean rice cultivars. The alleles of major grain-related genes, GW2, GS3, and qSW5, in BM_DGS showed two types, wild type or loss-of-function mutant type. The loss-of-function mutant alleles, gw2, gs3, and qsw5, had an effect on increasing grain size. The phenotypic variation of grain length was mostly controlled by GS3 alleles, and grain width and thickness were influenced by the combinations of GW2 and qSW5 alleles. 1,000-grain weight was determined by the combinations of GW2, GS3, and qSW5. The grain-related genes influenced the phenotypic variation of yield-related traits. The result of this study could be useful to elucidate the relationship between the grain-related genes and agronomic traits. And the BM_DGS are being utilized in the breeding programs to diversify the grain size and shape in japonica rice.

        조숙, 다수성, 올레산 고함유 유채 1대잡종 ‘조안’

        ‘Joan’, a rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) F₁ hybrid cultivar suitable for producing cooking oil developed by the National Instituteof Crop Science, is early maturing with characteristically high yield and oleic acid content. It was bred in 2009 by crossing the male sterileline ‘Mokpo-CGMS’ as the female parent with the restorer line ‘8630-B-6-5-3-6’ as the male parent. The average flowering and maturationdates of ‘Joan’ were April 10th and June 1st, respectively, 3 and 4 days earlier, respectively, than that of the control cultivar ‘Sunmang’. The yield of ‘Joan’ obtained in regional adaptation trials was 279 kg/10 a, which is 6% higher than that obtained for ‘Sunmang’. ‘Joan’is resistant to stem rot disease and more tolerant to lodging than ‘Sunmang’. Moreover, the total oil content of ‘Joan’ is 44.5%, whereasthe oleic acid content is 69.5%, which is 2.3% higher than that of ‘Sunmang’. However, erucic acid has not been detected. ‘Joan’ can begrown in paddy fields located in Jeollanam-do, Jeollabuk-do, Gyeongsangnam-do, and Jeju-do in Korea (Registration No. 6896).

        남부평야지 조기재배 적응 복합내병성 고품질 조생 벼 ‘조일’

        ‘Joil’ is a multiple disease resistant early maturing rice cultivar with high grain quality. ‘Joil’ was derived from a single cross between ‘Unbong37’ (cultivar name ‘Unmi’) and ‘HR23156-26-2-3-5’. ‘Unmi’ is an early maturing rice cultivar with high grain quality and resistance to rice blast and stripe virus. ‘HR23156-26-2-3-5’ is an early maturing elite rice line with lodging resistance and cold tolerance. ‘Joil’ was selected through the pedigree method, yield trials, and local adaptability tests. ‘Joil’ was an early maturing rice. The heading date of ‘Joil’ was July 16 in early transplanting cultivation, which was 2 days later than that of ‘Jopyeong’. ‘Joil’ was a lodging resistance rice with a short culm and showed better tolerance to viviparous germination than that of ‘Jopyeong’. ‘Joil’ was a multiple disease resistant rice with resistance against rice blast, bacterial blight, and stripe virus. ‘Joil’ showed higher yield in both early and late-transplanting cultivations than those of the standard rice cultivars ‘Jopyeong’ and ‘Geumo’. ‘Joil’ had enhanced grain quality under high temperature ripening conditions in early transplanting cultivation. The cooked rice had good grain appearance and taste attributes, and this cultivar had a higher head rice ratio than that of ‘Jopyeong’. ‘Joil’, a multiple disease resistant early maturing rice cultivar with high grain quality, would be suitable for early transplanting cultivation in the southern plain area (Registration No. 6792).
