The chilled beam system provides excellent thermal comfort energy conservation and efficient use of space due to high heat capacity of water used as heat transfer medium. Because of the increase of energy for HVAC in building, chilled beam systems are primarily used in Europe and North America. This study will be helpful to the chilled beam system design, especially the chilled beam system primary airflow rate. The energy saving effect of chilled beam system will be analyzed by TRACE700 simulation.

In order to decrease consumption of heating and cooling energy in building, the active chilled beam system which provides excellent thermal comfort, energy saving and efficient use of space due to high heat capacity of water used as heat transfer medium are primarily used in Europ and North America. Recently, the active chilled beam system is used to save consumption of energy in buildings. But design data and rules of the active chilled beam system in domestic is lack. So this study proposes to how to select appropriate primary airflow rate to national standard. The chilled beam systems are classified Dedicated Outdoor Air System(DOAS) configurations of 9 types in Seoul, Daegu, Jeju that is able to design in domestic and analyzed consumption of energy by Trace700 program.

In this study, we divided schools into several groups based on the year of building completion. We also categorized their classrooms into general classroom [GC] and special classroom [SC], then we compared and analyzed the pollutantdensity distribution of formaldehyde(HCHO) and volatile organic compounds(VOCs) and the emission quantity of pollutants over time through an on-the-spot survey. In addition, we presented the indoor air change rate and the pollution-reducing effect of the plasma operation time as a method to improve indoor air quality. When we compared general classrooms with special classrooms to detect their pollution densities, the density of special classrooms was higher than that of general classrooms, which suggests the fact that the various appliances and surface-finishing materials of special classrooms affected those densities. A method to protect indoor air from pollutants (1) We installed the air-change system [ALT-1] and changed air, which appliedthe air change rate at 1.3 times/h [AH-13] and 2.0 times/h [AH-20]. As a result, the density of HCHO and VOCs decreased over time, which suggests that the ventilator has an effect on the reduction of pollutant density. (2) We also studied the emission density depending on plasma operation time [ALT-2]. It may be safely said that plasma effectively reduced the emission quantity of indoor pollutants in a short time.

Window is the most demanding design component in the building design. Recently. window area in the building surface has been increased significantly in the office building. As window area increased significantly. however. the thermal load has been increased significantly due to lack of thermal performance of the outside wall. In this paper. we discussed the energy consumption of the buildings according to window area ratio. Two types of building for energy consumption analysis were made by Designbuilder v.1.4 and Energyplus v.2.0. Window area ratio was five different types (30%~70%) in each building. As a result. the cooling energy consumption has been decreased as window area decreased in each building. Whereas the heating energy consumption has been increased window area decreased.
