복지관 운동 프로그램유형이 노인의 신체조성 및 건강체력에 미치는 영향

The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences the body composition and health-related fitness by the type of exercise program in community-dwelling senior welfare center. Participants were divided into four groups according to program type; CG(control group, n=8), AEG(aerobic exercise group, n=8), REG(resistance exercise group, n=10), CEG(combined exercise group, n=7). The exercise program was consisted of 2 times a week for 16 weeks. We measured body composition, health-related fitness before and after 16 weeks. As the result, there were no significant differences on body composition among groups. However, there were significant improvement on grip strength, arm curl and knee extension in REG; on grip strength and knee extension in AEG; on knee extension in CEG compared by CG. However there were no significant differences on flexibility, agility, balance, cardio-fitness among groups. Therefore, the resistance exercise program was more effective for elderly, thus exercise programs in community-dwelling senior centre should be considered to include the resistance exercise program for elderly.

Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) refers to memory deficits in excess of normal aging, but not sufficient for the diagnosis of Alzheimer`s disease (AD). Recent researches were reported changes of biomarkers, including IL-1, IL-3, IL-11 and EGF, in blood flow to improve diagnosis of MCI. In the present study, 8 subjects were recruited in our community. Two types of combined exercise program were designed: Pilates (60 min/day, 2 days/week) and walking (30 min/day, 2 days/week). Body composition (body weight, Height, BMI, fat-free mass, %body fat, WHR) and metabolic factors of blood (HDL, HDL, TG and blood glucose) were measured. And physical fitness test for elderly people was performed before and after exercise intervention. In this study, body composition and aerobic ability were not changed by exercise intervention. However, muscle endurance ability was increased (p<0.05) after 12 weeks exercise program. Also, concentrations of IL-3 and EGF (and their ratio), blood markers of MCI, were significantly improved (p<0.05) after 12 weeks of exercise program. As a result, 12 weeks of combined exercise intervention could affect positively in MCI prevention especially with changing in levels of blood cytokines.
