화호미곡창고 재생 프로젝트 -"법고창신(法古創新)"을 통해 옛에서 새로움을 찾다-

본 프로젝트는 버려진 공간의 재생이라는 큰 주제를 가지고 정읍시 화호리에 위치한 미곡창고의 디자인 방향을 제시하였다 옛 것을 버리고 새로움을 추구하는 것이 아니라, 옛 것 속에서 새로움을 찾는것이 이 프로젝트의 목표이다. 화호창의 기존의 천장, 벽체, 창문, 우물, 측구를 중심으로 옛 모습에서 새로운 디자인 방향성을 발견하여 새로운 식음문화공간의 모습을 제시한다. 또한 본 프로젝트는 버려진 공간의 역사성과 시간성에 주목하여 공간의 가치를 더하려고 한다. 본 프로젝트는 옛 공간과 새로운 디자인의 융합이라는 의미와 함께 창고로서의 기능도 잃지 않으면서 곡물창고와 어울리는 식음문화 공간을 연출하는 것에 의의가 있다. Under a broad theme of ‘recycling the deserted space,’ this project suggested the designing direction for refurbishing a rice warehouse located in Hwaho-ri, Jeongeup City, and the goal of this project is to create the new based on the old instead of replacing the old with the new. The project found out a new designing direction from the old shapes of the ceiling, walls, window frames, well and side-entrance frames of the rice warehouse in Hwaho-ri and recreate the old rice warehouse into a new dining space. Also, this project intended to add values to the space by placing the focus on the preservation of the historicity and temporality of the abandoned space. This project is meaningful in that is a product of the fusion of the old space with a new design, and that it created a new culinary space well-matched to its original purpose by preserving its function as a warehouse.
