Effects of heat-setting temperature and degree of twist on the fine structure. physical properties and dyeing behavior were investigated for PET filament yarn to be used in polyester georgette fabrics. Dyeing behavior, crystallinity and mechanical properties such as initial modulus, yield stress, tensile strength and elongation were investigated for the PET filament which were hard twisted and heat-set at various conditions.

Polyester yarns with 75 denier 36 filament were heat treated at the temperature of 70℃, 90℃ and 110℃ for 30min. Results from experimental studies are as follows. (1) By D.S.C. curues analysis, the most desirable heat treatment condition was to be heat treated at the temperature of 110℃ for 30min. (2) By the results of shrinkage rate, when the heat treatment carried out at the high temperature for a short time it was so desirable having regard that the shrinkage rate of the sample under the heat treatment condition(110℃, 30min.) was so small. (3) In practical scouring processing, heat treatment have to carried out for a short time as possible as to diminish heat loss, if so, the defect generation probability will be low.
