유아문학교육에서 새로운 변화의 하나는 정적인 그림책의 세계를 유지하면서 동적·영상적 세계를 연계 지어 어린이들에게 좋은 경험을 주려는 노력이었다. 이러한 시대적 변화와 함께 인터넷의 보급으로 그 숫자가 증가하고 있는 웹 그림동화는 그림책 비디오와 같이 유아문학교육에서 많은 장점이 기대되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 웹 그림동화 사이트를 김세희(2000)와 Webby Awards의 평가 기준에 기초하여 원작에의 충실성, 기술적 우수성, 발달적 적합성, 사용의 편리성의 네 가지 기준에 따라 분석하여 그 문제점 및 개선방향을 제시함을 목적으로 수행되었다. 연구결과, 웹 그림동화 사이트는 원작에의 충실성과 사이트 접근의 편리성 면에서는 우수한 편이었으나 기술적 우수성 및 발달적 적합성면에서는 낮은 수준은 보였다. 특히, 웹 그림동화의 분류가 유아문학적 체계를 전혀 고려하고 있지 않아 이에 대한 개선이 시급한 것으로 지적되었다. The purpose of this study is to investigate picture fairy tale web sites for young children and suggest ways for improving the overall site. Eight fairy tale web sites were examined. The results of this study are as follows. First, the accurateness of the picture fairy tales, based on the original story, was very high. Second, the audiovisual technology of the picture fairy tales, especially animated ones was very low. One reason is due to the restriction of file volume which is delivered via the internet . Third, the appropriate level of the picture fairy tales were not congruent with kindergarten student`s development level. One reason is that these sites have been designed for children aged 2 to 12. Fourth, the level of surfing convenience of the fairy tale web sites, especially the system of categorizing picture fairy tales, was very low. One reason can be attributed to the lack of early childhood literature theory in the web site development.
