The purpose of this study was application of a multiple box model and prediction of water quality for Ilsan lake in order to provide alternatives to water quality management. The model applied in this study was a long-term dynamic model capable of predicting water quality such as water temperature, DO, chlorophyll-a, BOD, T-N, and T-P using variable inflow, outflow, loading rate, and meteorological conditions. The model applying to Ilsan lake was calibrated by using field data on water quality of Sukchon lake which was similar to Ilsan lake as usefulness, magnitude, site, water source. From the results applying model to Ilsan lake, predicted water qualities exceeded goal water quality, and might be established an adequate measure for water quality preservation.

As livestock wastewater contains much quantity of organic matters such as BOD , TN, TP, and livestock feeders are lack of recognition of its treatment livestock wastewater has always influenced on water pollution. Especially, stormwater runoff effluented from feedlot affects much more water quality of neignbouring water body than other pollution sources. Characteristics of livestock wastewater are generally varied with a kinds of livestock and feed, feedlot operation and hydrological condition. This study was performed to invest the characteristics of livestock wastewater runoff dividing into dry and rainy season through related literature and field survey.

Industrialization has been increasing the discharge of wastewater and requiring its proper management and treatment. Generally, joint treatment of municipal and industrial wastewater is advantageous technically and economically, however, it has difficulties in ensuring required treatment efficiency for different types of water quality and quantity. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the treatability on joint treatment of municipal and industrial wastewater, and to suggest simple method to treat effectively. For the study, selection and mixing of industrial wastewater, and investigation of BOD reaction and batch treating test for biodegradability were performed. From the BOD curve and reaction rate constant, it was possible to predict the biodegradable characteristic, and from the treatability test to mixing municipal-industrial wastewater, it was possible to determine effective mixing rate. Although this study was simply performed, it might be used to apply evaluation of biodegradability of joint treatment of municipal and industrial wastewater.

This study was performed to offer the basic data on water quality management of special stream section in which lots of pollutant flow. Simplified method of calculating the maximum allowable BOD concentration as to D.O level to be maintained to the minimum within the stream section was presented in this paper. The calculation procedure of maximum allowable BOD in the stream is as follow: 1. Determine object stream section and minimum D.O level. 2. Investigate water quality and hydraulic data on the object stream. 3. Calculation the maximum allowable BOD through repeated computter simulation using D.O model
