This paper deals with investigation of the important control factors influencing on reducing brake squeal noise in caliper brake system. To find the main contribution of each pan yielding squeal noise Taguchi method are carried out. 12 kinds of tests are done twice with noise dynamometer under 10 control factors. The contribution of control factors causing squeal noise is in the order of pad parallelism, disc type, pad friction coefficient, pad compressibility am pad slot The result that bad parallelism is good for squeal noise may be concerned with load distribution between disc and pad. Through these tests, optimized levels of control factors am the contribution of each control factor are verified quantitatively. Finally verification tests prove that optimized specification has lower noise ratio am predicted SIN ratio by Taguchi method coincides with the verified one well.

This study aims to investigate the effect of the pad chamfer shape of the caliper, one of the automobile brake systems, on housing behavior and contact pressure characteristics. The pad chamfer of the caliper serves to control the pressure and contact area between the pad and the disk, which can affect the performance and noise generation of the brake system. In this study, a caliper with squeal noise was attached to a noise dynamometer, and the shape of the pad chamfer was changed under the same conditions, and the movement amount and direction of movement of the top and bottom of the housing and the contact pressure between the pad and the disc were tested. The test confirmed that the pad chamfer shape of the caliper directly affects the housing behavior and contact pressure characteristics, which also affects the improvement of squeal noise. In particular, pad chamfer of certain shapes have shown a tendency to increase squeal noise by causing instability in caliper housing behavior and imbalance in face pressure distribution. This study will help minimize squeal noise generation by adjusting the behavior and face pressure of the housing through optimization of the pad shape. Furthermore, it may contribute to improving the driving stability of the vehicle and the convenience of the driver.

Squeal is generated by system instability, which is caused from friction energy to make a brake system exciting. Squeal could be predicted from instable mode, which is the result of complex eigenvalue analysis. In this study, to confirm the accuracy of the analysis process, the results of instability analysis is compared with that of dynamo test, and then, to improve the squeal noise of the brake system, the structure of carrier is alternated, which is the most affective part of 2.4㎑ system mode.

Damping shims are broadly used for the purpose of reducing the squeal noise of disc brake systems. Although the<br/> effects of the damping shims are well known practically, the analytical studies have not been carried out sufficiently.<br/> In this paper, we conducted the complex eigenvalue analysis of the finite element model of a brake system with<br/> several kinds of damping shims and investigated the effects of damping shims in variation of their material properties<br/> and contact conditions. Each damping shim was modeled as an equivalent single-layer instead of a multi-layered<br/> model. Also, noise dynamometer test were performed and the test results were in accordance with the analysis results.

This paper dealt with English number expressions as natural language processing (NLP), analyzing word forms and constituentes in number expressions, the semantic interpretation of quantifier scope, and the textual reference. Thus, the results are shown as follows: First, the number expressions as NLP play an important role bothe for cognition of human beings and NLP itself, since they might reflect human mind world. Second, features of words in lexicography can contain a lot of information for NLP, while the co-occurrence restrictions in phrase level and the number agreement in clause level depend upon the modifiers and head-resolution, respectively. Third, the ambiguity of quantifier scope is one of the problems that we can not solve easily. The logics helps to solve the problems. However, it is insufficient because the logic symbol itself has a limitation of the interpretation of quantifier scope. Only does the logics give us a more explicit way to reduce the ambiguity of quantifier scope than others. Fourth, as for the reference, the relationship between reference and referent can be resloved by context. Since it is not easy to capture their relationship, we tried to catch the referent using thematic role and focus. They can be available to an extent at present. For the development of NLP, we can say, the modern NLP depends on new methodologies for the construction of computers, languages, and application programs. We may be confident in their ability to perform as intended by their designers in the future.

Open education at home(O.E.H.) can be one of the ways to learn English as a second language. It will be useful for the schoolchildren to practice speaking English as a second language at home. This paper deals with the roles of parents, their open minds for speaking, and some models and strategies of English speaking at home. Since there is every likelihood that the speech act of schoolchildren is closely related to their parents, it might be important that the children have an opportunity to communicate their desire in English at home. At the beginning of speaking, they will speak some simple words: Mom, Dad, good morning, etc. And they will expand their sentences with more complex words and expressions. Finally, they may arrive at the highest level what it is called ‘the embedded sentences’ or ‘acquisition stage’ That level is one of our goals to acquire English. Although the O.E.H. can be predicted that the schoolchildren will get a good result for speaking English, it may have limits such as mispronunciation, misunderstanding, or misusing about the culture and linguistic information between LI and L2. So, it is necessary to get some data for the results of the experiment on the O.E.H. As for the experiement, however, this paper is in a position to leave it for the next study.
