도시철도 변전소에 설치한 첨두부하 절감용 ESS의 경제성 분석

This paper evaluates economic benefits of ESS (Energy Storage System) for peak load shaving in the substation of urban railway. For this purpose, the method to determine capacities of ESS and PCS (Power Conditioning System) for peak load shaving is proposed. Then the economic benefits of those devices are evaluated using net present value method. The proposed methods are applied to actual measurements of loads in the substation of urban railway. The results show that electric power costs can be reduced and the economic benefits of ESS for peak load shaving mainly depends on the price of battery.

This paper proposes the planning method for placement of capacitors in a distribution system. The main objectives in the planning for capacitor allocation are the reduction of installation costs and electric power loss. In the proposed method, the life time of each device is considered in calculating installation costs, and the optimal operation status of devices is found by genetic algorithm. Then, the optimal numbers and locations are determined based on the optimal operation status. Simulation results in the 59-bus distribution system show that the proposed method performs better than conventional methods.
소규모 유역에서 자연방류형 단일저류지의 임계지속기간 분석

본 연구의 목적은 소규모 유역에서 홍수 저류시설물과 홍수 조절시설물 사이의 임계지속기간을 평가하는데 있다. 4개 소규모 유역을 통하여 수문분석을 실시하였으며, 유효우량은 NRCS 유효우량 산정방법으로 산정하였다. 홍수 저류시설물과 홍수 조절시설물의 임계지속기간은 허용방류량 고정개념을 이용하여 평가하였다. 허용방류량 고정개념을 이용한 경우 최대 저류비를 발생시키는 시간분포는 Huff 2분위 시간분포로 나타났으며, 자연방류형 단일저류지에서 홍수 조절시설물의 임계지속기간은 홍수 저류시설물의 임계지속기간과 유사한 것으로 나타났다. The objective of this study is to evaluate the critical duration between detention facility and flood control facility of small size catchment. 4 small size catchments are applied for hydrological analysis and rainfall excess is computed by using the NRCS Runoff Curve Number method. The critical duration of detention facility and flood control facility is evaluated using the concept of allowable release rate. The conclusions studied in this study are as follows; (1) The type of temporal pattern of design rainfall which causes maximum storage ratio has resulted in Huff`s 2 quartile in case of the use of the concept of allowable release rate. (2) Based on (1) of conclusion, the critical durations of flood control facility are similar to those of detention facility, which is used for uncontrolled single detention pond.

The aims of the demand response market are stabilization of the power supply and improving of the reliability of the power system. The various applications of the energy storage system (ESS) in the railway systems are studied and implemented to raise the energy efficiency. It is one of the most important how to determine the obligation reduction capacity (ORC) in participation to the demand response market because it has an influence on the profit extremely. In this paper, when participating to the demand response market with demands in the urban railway, we calculated the available ORC and economically evaluated ESS based on the real load data.

This paper aims at suggesting several ways to change financial vulnerability and to improve managerial capability of local public hospitals (LPHs) in Korea through the identification of factors affecting profitability. Several findings of the research are as follows: To begin with, LPHs exhibited a statistically significant difference in their profitability from one another, according to the analyses of their profitable margins from the general characteristics. It depends on the number of hospitals in the area, the population of the hospital-built area, the number of competing hospitals, the number of staff per 100 beds, the opening of special clinic, the educational function, and the capacity of rooms. However, there was no variable in the managerial characteristics, presenting a significant difference, in contrast with hospitals which have been managed by private companies and made a great amount of profits. Second, according to the analyses of profit differences in behavioral effort-characteristics, a statistically significant difference was revealed upon the basis of the efforts to improve the clinic service, invite special patients, and shorten the period of being hospitalized. Third, the result of analyses about the difference of profitability from medical care and finance is statistically significant in the rate of labor cost, the rate of management cost, bed-occupancy rate, and the period of being hospitalized. Fourth, according to the analyses of the factors influencing the net profit ratio of the entire capital, Adjusted explanatory power(Adjusted R2) was shown up to 65.2%, which is high. To compare the adjusted explanatory power stage by stage, the first stage model applying only two variables such as structural and strategic characteristics exhibited 23.8%, and the second stage model adding financial characteristics showed 51.5%. The explanatory power was much improved up to 65.2% when the third stage model incorporated the outcome of medical care performance. When the return on investment(ROI) was examined by using the multivariate linear regression analysis at the final model of third stage, it was found that ROI had a positive relationship with the increase rate of patients, labor costs per doctor, and medical care rate of socially protected inpatients. However, it revealed that ROI had a negative relationship with the ratio of labor costs, the number of patients per managerial staff, and occupancy rate of rooms, respectively. The research suggests that in order for LPHs to increase profitability, LPHs should make efforts not only to attract patients to the hospitals without any discrimination of the patients depending on their financial status, but also to develop efficient management methods to reduce labor costs.
도시철도 실측 부하에 기반한 첨두부하 절감용 ESS 용량 산정

This paper proposes the method for determination of the capacities of ESS (Energy Storage System) and PCS (Power Conditioning System) for the peak load shaving based on the load data in the substation of urban railway. In addition, this paper analyze the actual measurement of loads in the substation of urban railway. The load of a weekday in the substation of urban railway is high around rush hours in the morning and evening, which is different from that of a normal substation. The required capacities of ESS and PCS become larger as the amount of peak load shaving is higher, and are affected from the patterns of daily load in the substation.
