Based on the cutting force model, optimal designed tool which is minimized resultant cutting force is developed by computer simulation technique. On this model it was taken that objective function that minimized sum of cutting force and variables that had radial rake angle, axial rake angle, lead angle of the tool. Thereby three-dimensional optimal design model was also developed. At simulation of cutting force using conventional and optimal tool. We compared and analyzed cutting force in time domain and frequency domain. As a result of analyzing cutting force in time domain, cutting force in feed direction was reduced superiorly and fluctuation of cutting force was also reduced. Cutting force in X and Z directions had shown a little upward trend. We knew that in frequency domain amplitude of cutting frequency of insert in X and Z direction was a little up. As the reduction of cutting force and vibration, we thought that life of machine tool and tool would be longer and surface roughness of workpiece would be improved and matchine tool being would be stable.

On face milling operation a new optimal cutter, which can minimize the resultant cutting forces, was designed from the cutting force model. The optimal technique was used sequential quadratic programming(SQP). Dynamic cutting forces of optimal and conventional cutters were investigated through several cutting experiments and simulations. The dynamic cutting forces and the components of the newly designed cutter in feed dirction are reduced compare to those of the conventional cutter. In the frequency domains, the amplitude of frequencys in neighborhood of natural frequency of the newly designed cutter reduced compare to those of the conventional cutter. It is thought that the surface roughness and tool life of the newly manufactured cutter are improved compare to those of the conventional cutter.

This paper present the renovation of dynamic characteristic of feed drive system by using magnetic damper. By attatching magnetic fluid damper on ball screw, feeding drive system can be renovated on the damping coefficient and position amplification gain margins. It can adopt 28-52% higher position amplification gain as maintain same gain margin.

In the manufacturing of cast iron, anthracite has been used a fuel for cupola in our country. Sine anthracite has been different properties from coke, properties of cast iron manufactured by anthracite has been found different from those of cast iron manufactured by coke for cupola melting. The objective of this study is to find characteristics by comparign machinability of the gray cast iron manufactured by anthracite with that of the gray cast iron manufactured by coke for cupola. Tool wear, cutting force and surface roughness of those specimens were investigated experimentally.
