In this article the word 'self' was discussed in psychoanalytical interpretation and observed Williams James' intorspection showed, not the meaning of the word 'self', nor any analysis of such a thin, but state of a psychologist's attention when he says the word 'self' to himself and tries to analyze its meaning. James makes a distinction between the self as known, or the me, the empirical ego, and the self as knower, or the I, the pure ego: "Whatever I may be thinking of, I am always at the same time more or less aware of myself, of my personal existence. Self theory is based on two major assumptions: that personality development is guided by each person's unique self-actualization tendency; and that each of us has a personal need for positive regard. Self-actualizing tendency refers to an in born tendency for us to develop all of our capacities in ways that best maintain and benefit our lives. The self-actualizing tendency refers to biological functions, such as meeting our basic for food, and oxygen, as well as psychological functions, such as expanding our experience, encouraging personal growth, and becoming self-sufficient. The self-actualizing tendency guides us toward positive or healthful behaviors rathe than negative or harmful ones. Sometimes a person may be undecided about what is his or her rel self. As we discover our real self, we may undergo a number of changes in personality.
중일사상(中一思想)을 기초로 한 전일적(全一的) 집단상담 프로그램 개발 및 효과의 측정

The purpose of this study was to develope a holistic group counseling program on the basis of the Joong-il thought and to examine the appropriateness and effectiveness of the program. On the basis of the Joong-il thought, Korean traditional thought which emphasizes the holistic viewpoint, the principles of the program showed the following: First, if the human being gives his whole mind to himself, he/she can regain and establish the subjectiveness as the character of the heaven. Second, if the human being trusts himself and others strongly and live with the flow of universal energy, he can develope the capacity of self-¬activity as the character of the earth. Third, if the human being gets together closely with love, he can harmonize with everyone as the character of the wise human being. This program emphasizes to help the client have the power to solve the present problems through applying these principles rather than to focus onto a specific problem. The effect of the program was analyzed using voice analysis program. The data were gathered before the first session and after the last session. It were analyzed by using ANCOVA, ANOVA, and Tukey test. The results of the study showed the following: 1. In comparison of the sense of stability, there was a significant difference between the holistic counseling group and control group. 2. In comparison of the assertive aspect, there was no significant difference between the holistic counseling group and assertive training group. 3. In comparison of the ego grasping orientation, there was a significant difference between the holistic counseling group and assertive training group. Based on these results, it was concluded that the holistic counseling program is partly effective for the improvement of stability and balance of mind, body and energy in spite of some limitations.
한국 청소년의 심리적 행복감에 위협적인 요소에 관한 연구

In this article the threatening factors to psychological well-being In Korean adolescents were inferred from the problems on our educational setting today. One aspect of schooling that has been related the adolescents' sense of self, personal adjustment to school, and social relationships. More recent practices of the school system as a whole also have an impact on the developing personality adolescents. Reviewing the researches and the theory, such as self-verification and self-enhancement, the psychological process of searching for well-being were indicated the threatening factors, such as lack of self-strengthening education, absence of warm human-relationship, dreamless school life, school environment with no chance to express self-potential abilities, and were suggested for our educational strategy aiming self-protective and self-strengthening education.

Identity problems of our youths are discussed in this study. In particular, the characteristic process of identity formation of college students is explored through some case studies by the counselors in Student Guidance Center, Keimyung University. The problems are classified into the following three types of students: 1) Students with internal temporal maladjustment although external and formal identity breakdown is not recognized. 2) Students with identity crisis due to internal and subjective identity breakdown although external and formal identity breakdown is not yet recognized. And 3) students thought to experience external and formal identity breakdown due to internal problems.
