Equilibrium swelling curves of N-isopropyl acrylamide(NIPA) gel and its ionized copolymer gels were obtained as a function of temperature. Discontinuous volume changes of the gels were observed. Phase transition temperature was increased with the ionized counter parts of the gels. Equilibrium swelling of ionized copolymer gel cylinder was found to depend strongly on their diameters. Crosslinking density of NIPA gel was adjusted by increasing N,N'-methylenebisacrylamide(BIS). Phase transition temperature was increased with the crosslinking density.

Ni-33.3at%Si elemental powder mixtures were mechanically alloyed by a high-energy ball mill, followed by CIP (cold isostatic pressing) and HIP (hot isostatic pressing) for different processing conditions. Only elemental phases (Ni and Si) were observed for the 15 min mechanically alloyed (MA 15 min) powder. but $Ni_2$Si and elemental phases were observed to coexist for the 30 min mechanically alloyed (MA 30 min) powder. Elemental Ni and $Ni_2$Si phases were observed for the HIPed compact of MA 15 min powder at 100 and 150 MPa for 2 hr at $800^{\circ}C$. Only the $Ni_2$Si phase was, however, observed for the HIPed compacts of MA 30 min powder. For the HIPed compacts, the highest sintered density was obtained to be 99.5% of theoretical density by a HIP step at $1100^{\circ}C$ at 150MPa for 2hr. The hardness values of the HIPed $Ni_2$Si compacts at $1100^{\circ}C$ at 100/150 MPa for 2 hr were higher than HRC 66. The densification and mechanical property of HIPed $Ni_2$Si compacts were found to depend on more HIP temperature than HIP pressure.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of combined treatment of needle-embedding therapy and acupuncture for breast augmentation. Methods: 136 patients had needle-embedding therapy and acupuncture combined treatments for breast augmentation. The treatments was performed once a week for 10 weeks. We measured bust circumference, underbust circumference, bust circumference and underbust circumference difference, treatments either before or after. Results: The mean of bust circumference was $77.75{\pm}4.93cm$ before the procedure and $80.25{\pm}5.01cm$ after the procedure, $2.50{\pm}1.95cm$ significantly increased. The mean of underbust circumference was $70.01{\pm}3.99cm$ before the procedure and $70.49{\pm}4.08cm$ after the procedure, $0.48{\pm}1.48cm$ significantly increased. the mean of bust circumference and underbust circumference difference was $7.74{\pm}2.24cm$ before the procedure and $9.76{\pm}2.55cm$ after the procedure, $2.01{\pm}1.72cm$ significantly increased. Conclusions: The combined treatment comprising needle-embedding therapy and acupuncture had a significant effect with regard to breast augmentation.

To improve the mechanical properties of hydroxyapatite (HA)/waterborne polyurethane (WBPU) composites, the hydroxyl group of HA was modified by urethane reactions: the hydroxyl groups of HA were reacted with aliphatic or cyclic diisocyanate, and then the modified HAs were extended by adding polyol and/or ε-caprolactone. Composites were prepared by the prepolymer process method: the modified HA was directly pured into the urethane reaction of isocyanate and polyol. The properties of modified HA/WBPU composites were investigated by thermogravimetric analysis, tensile strength, and water resistance. The results showed that the reactivity of aliphatic diisocyanate to the hydroxy group of HA was faster than that of cyclic one. Comparing to those of pure HA/WBPU composite films, the thermal stability, water resistance, and mechanical properties of the modified composite films increased with a degree of modification of HA.
