A reaction-driven tip-jet rotor is one of the compound rotorcrafts designed for the high speed forward flight. A parametric study on the duct inlet pressure and the blade tip speed was performed for a two-bladed tip-jet rotor with elliptic airfoils and a rectangular duct. Numerical results compare with the experimental data conducted by Alan W. Schwartz in 1993. As the duct inlet pressure increases or the blade tip speed decreases, the tip-jet flow becomes strong. As the tip-jet flow becomes stronger, the tip-jet thrust and the tip-jet drive torque generated by the tip-jet flow are increased. It is shown that the tip-jet flow greatly changes the tip vortex trajectory and weakens the vortex strength. This interference consequently reduces the blade thrust on the entire blade.
