It is very important to improve the combustion efficiency and reduce pollutant emission in order to save energy and environment. Especially, thermal NOx has been reduced through monitoring burner flame, because the thermal NOx is strongly related to flame characteristics. In this work, a flame-monitoring system was fabricated with photodiode, optical fiber, interference filter and data acquisition system, and it was applied to a lab-scale methane combustion system and a testing facility. Flame intensity and mean frequency increased with increasing turbulent intensity and fuel loading. The sensor signal from flame fluctuations differed from that without flame, which showed the availability of the flame scanner to find the presence of flame. NOx emissions increased with flame intensity.

Catalytic combustion type sensor was fabricated for alcohol detection, and its characteristics were tested. When the resistance of Pt coil for pellistor is 2.0 ohm, suggestible input power to bridge circuit was about 300 mW for methanol detection, and in the range from 350 mW to 400 mW for ethanol. Pellistors were prepared by means of impregnating Pt or Pd on the γ-alumina bead for sensing element, and transition metals such as Co₃O₄, Fe₂O₃ for compensating element.
혼합전도성 $La_{0.6}Sr_{0.4}Co_{0.2}Fe_{0.8}O_{3-{\delta}}$ 분리막의 산소투과 특성

고상 반응법으로 제조된 $La_{0.6}Sr_{0.4}Co_{0.2}Fe_{0.8}O_{3-{\delta}}$ 분리막의 소결거동을 살펴보고, 분리막 양면에 산소농도의 차이를 부여하여 산소투과량을 측정하였다. 최적 소결조건에서 제조된 상대밀도 98%의 치밀한 분리막 자체의 산소공공을 통한 혼합전도에 기인해 750$^{\circ}$C∼950$^{\circ}$C의 온도구간에서 산소가 투과되었으며, 850$^{\circ}$C에서 약 0.1ml/$cm^2{\cdot}$min의 투과량을 나타내었다. 안정한 산소 투과량에 도달하기 위해서는 산소투입 후 일정한 시간이 요구되었고, 이러한 산소투과량은 산소부분압의 조절로 제어가 가능하였다. $La_{0.6}Sr_{0.4}Co_{0.2}Fe_{0.8}O_{3-{\delta}}$ membranes were fabricated by solid-state reaction. We investigated sintering behavior and oxygen permeation flux as a function of time-on-stream, temperature and upstream oxygen partial pressure. The oxygen was permeated at temperatures form 750$^{\circ}$C to 950$^{\circ}$C by mixed conducting through oxygen vacancy diffusion in the dense membrane. The oxygen permeation flux through the membrane were about 0.1ml/$cm^3{\cdot}$min at 850$^{\circ}$C. A constant time was required for reaching stable oxygen flux, and oxygen partial pressure affected the oxygen permeation fluxes.

Hydrogen gas sensors were fabricated using PdOx loaded with SWNTs. The nanoparticle powders of SWNTs-PdOx composite were deposited on Si wafer substrates by a vacuum filtering deposition method. The fabricated sensors were tested against hydrogen gas. The composition ratio that exhibited the highest response to hydrogen gases was SWNTs:PdOx=98:2 in wt% ratio at operating temperature of about 150 oC. The response and recovery times were shorter than 1.0 min. in presence of 1000 ppm hydrogen.

Thick film type oxygen sensors based TiO_(2) doped with WO_(3)(5.0[wt%]) were investigated. TiO_(2) powders were sintered by sol-gel processing method in air atmosphere. Particle sizes of WO_(3) doped TiO_(2) prepared with conventional and nano crystal process were approximately 1[μm]~0.1[μm] and 20[nm] respectively. The sensor prepared with small size WO_(3)-TiO_(2) powders showed more enhanced oxygen sensing characteristics

경제 사회적인 여건의 변화에 의해 연료구입원이 다양해지고 있는 현 상황에서, 이들 다종의 석탄의 연소시 예상되는 문제점을 예측 및 해결하고자 석탄 시험 연소로에서의 종합적인 평가를 통한 산업용 및 발전용 미분탄의 연료특성평가를 시행하기 위해 시험연소 시스템을 구성하여 실제 국내 수입 이용되고 있는 인도네시아 Roto탄을 시험 적용하였다. 연소율은 98% 이상이었으며, 선회도와 공기예열온도가 높을수록 안정한 화염을 생성하였다. 배가스 중 NO_χ 농도는 선회도가 0.5-0.9 범위에 있을 때에 낮은 값을 보여 주었으며, 배가스 중 산소 및 이산화탄소의 농도는 선회도의 변화에도 불구하고 거의 일정하였다. Problems encountered in use of pulverized coal, in particular, have practical implications related to coal blending and up-grading of imported coals. Practically, significant problems are recognized in such aspects as control of the combustion process, fireside corrosion, ash and pollution. The methodology of predicting problems using pilot scale facility is less expensive, requires less coal and less time to excute, compared to the use of full scale facility. In this study, evaluation of Indonesian Roto coal was performed in a pilot scale coal combustion test facility. Burnout ratio of coal was higher than 98%, and increase of swirl number and preheat temperature of air made flame stabilize. NO_χ concentration in flue gas was lower in the range 0.5-0.9 of swirl number. Concentrations of oxygen and carbon dioxide in flue gas were constant in spite of variation of swirl number in this work.
