박광애 ( Kwang Ae Park ),박장운 ( Jang Woon Park ),양정은 ( Chung Eun Yang ),전은진 ( Eun Jin Jeon ),유희천 ( Hee Cheon You ) 한국의류산업학회 2014 한국의류산업학회지 Vol.16 No.4

This study develops a sizing system of mass-customized male suits for wheelchair users. One hundred and three male wheelchair users’ 21 anthropometric dimensions were measured to identify body shapes and develop a sizing system. The measured wheelchair users’ body sizes were compared with the average body sizes of Korean males from the 6 th Korean Body Size Survey to understand the body size differences between two groups. As a result of body shape classification using the KS’s Drop method, wheelchair user body shapes were classified into four shapes for upper-body (A: 32%, B: 26%, BB: 24%, and Y: 18%), and two shapes for lower-body (B: 70% and A: 30%). The upper-body of wheel- chair users was relatively developed than Korean males; however, the lower-body was relatively stunted. The key dimen- sions of a sizing system were selected as chest circumference, waist circumference, and trunk length, outside leg length based on the correlation analysis between anthropometric measures. The top sizes were determined considering chest and waist circumferences for horizontal sizes, and additionally the trunk length was divided into short, medium, and long groups for vertical sizes. The bottom sizes were selected considering the waist and hip circumferences for horizontal sizes, and additionally their outside leg length was divided into short, medium, and long groups for vertical sizes.

Vol.14 No.2

The purpose of this study is to develop torso pattern suitable to the body-type of female wheelchair users. The result is as follows. The body-type with the highest frequency in the preceding studies was selected as the representative body-type and female wheelchair user with body-type close to the mean measurement of the representative body-type were selected as the test subjects to design the torso pattern of this study. The torso length was shortened to about 5~7㎝ than the torso pattern for standard body-type and the margin of waist measurement was 14~20㎝ that was longer than the standard. Upon considering the protruded back side area of disabled people on wheelchair according to their physical characteristics the center back was incised at the back width location to open about 0.7~1㎝ in order to give room in the back width. The pattern of this study was favorably evaluated in the drapery evaluation than the existing pattern. Accordingly the torso pattern developed in this study is expected to assist in producing clothing suitable to the physical figure of disabled people on wheelchair.

Vol.45 No.5

This study aims to obtain basic data to develop clothes for dementia patients by classifying types of dementia patients. Data was collected from those dementia patients who entered a nursing home. This study analyzed a total of 221 sheets. Furthermore, descriptive statistics, cross-tabulation, and K-means clustering were performed for statistical processing using Minitab 14. As a result, dementia patients were classified into four types: inactive-dependent, active-problematic behavior, activity-autonomy, and inactive-offensive. Inactive-dependent type was a group with the most severe disability in cognitive and daily activity functions; however, they lacked behavioral and psychological symptoms and problematic behavior with clothes. Active-problematic behavior type showed the most behavioral and psychological problems and problematic behavior with clothes. Activity-autonomy type was a group without any problematic behaviors. Moreover, the inactive-offensive type had very good cognitive function toward humans. The study imply that it is necessary to provide clothes with proper functions based on the types of patients rather than providing them uniform clothes because clinical and clothes behaviors differ significantly depending on the types of dementia patients.

Vol.36 No.2

This study examines the characteristics of fat body type males aged 35 to 55 with a BMI rate higher than 25 categorized as mid-degree obesity and high-degree obesity according to the 6th Size Korea; in addition, the study provides a sizing system for obese males. The physical characteristics of the obese male appeared to be with a shorter lower body compared to an upper body for a higher degree of obesity. Obesity appeared evenly from chest to thigh circumference compared to a normal group. Especially, their waist measurement, depth, and width were significantly larger as well as the crotch length (natural indentation) and a larger waist measurement. As for the cloth sizing system, this study suggests the sizes with higher distribution among the designated size intervals of casual tops, men`s suit tops and bottoms based on standard stature, chest size and waist circumference (Omphalion) by KS.

        배수진 ( Bae Su-jin ),양정은 ( Yang Chung-eun ),유희천 ( You Hee-cheon ),박광애 ( Park Kwang-ae ) 한국디자인트렌드학회 2016 한국디자인포럼 Vol.50 No.-

Background This study aims to develop suit designs and patterns for disabled men in wheelchairs. In this study, a suit pattern prototype is presented, which reflects not only the clothing inconvenience level and their preference of suit for the disabled in wheelchairs on advanced research data but also their body characteristics. In addition, they were evaluated and modified through wearing tests and then master patterns were completed. Methods The design of System M. Muller was set as a basic pattern. Body sizes such ad chest circumference, waist circumference, waist-back length, hip circumference, crotch length, and slacks length were considered in designing patterns. Result The findings from wearing evaluation for master patterns that were revised and complemented from basic patterns and development patterns are that there were significant differences at p<0.001 in 25 out of 44 categories, and significant differences at p<0.01 in 11 categories. It means that the master patterns as reflect on their body characteristics were more fit with disabled in wheelchairs than basic patterns. Conclusion As for jackets, Master patterns applied properly to gaps on the hemlines, jacket length, as well as collar and lapel categories. As for slacks, it was appropriate to determine ease using darts on the knee part, to make slacks longer, and to shorten the front crotch length and to lengthen the back.
