        천연조미료(깨류)의 동양의학적 융합접근방법 고찰

        This study was examined that natural seasoning is related to health care and disease prevention through oriental medicinal theory. A typical oriental medicinal theory is the princeple of win-win cooperation between Yin-Yang and Five elements, the old belief is that our body moves in harmony with Yin-Yang and Five elements. From the records traditional books and papers, we would look at the affinity and nutritional relationship between Five taste(Sweet, Salt, Sour, Bitter, Heat and Spicy) and the body with “Sesame” Therefore, several type of Sesame which is represented by natural seasoning, through intake of Five taste because of body affinity, is expected to prolong health life span. 본 연구는 천연조미료(깨류)의 ‘맛[味]’을 동양의학사상의 음양오행(陰陽五行)의 ‘상생상극(相生相克)’ 원리에 의한 우리 몸의 오장육부와 그에 상응하는 관계가 건강관리와 질병을 예방하는 측면에서 고찰하였다. 천연조미료인 깨와 동양의학의 융합연구를 위하여 동양의학의 고전인 황제내경(黃帝內經), 동의보감(東醫寶鑑), 및 전문단행본, 논문 등의 기록에서 분석하였으며, 깨류의 섭취는 친화성이 있는 장부와 오미(五味)[산(酸)⦁ 고(苦)⦁ 감(甘)⦁ 신(辛)⦁ 함(鹹)]를 섭취하면 장수시대에 ‘건강수명’을 연장하는데 기여할 것으로 본다.

        The Inhibitory Effect of Quercetin-3-O-β-D-Glucuronopyranoside on Gastritis and Reflux Esophagitis in Rats

        It was evaluated the inhibitory action of quercetin-3-O-β-D-glucuronopyranoside (QGC) on reflux esophagitis and gastritis in rats. QGC was isolated from the herba of Rumex Aquaticus. Reflux esophagitis or gastritis was induced surgically or by administering indomethacin, respectively. Oral QGC decreased ulcer index, injury area, gastric volume, and acid output and increased gastric pH as compared with quercetin. Furthermore, QGC significantly decreased gastric lesion sizes induced by exposing the gastric mucosa to indomethacin. Malondialdehyde levels were found to increase significantly after inducing reflux esophagitis, and were reduced by QGC, but not by quercetin or omeprazole. These results show that QGC can inhibit reflux esophagitis and gastritis in rats.

        The effects of properties and interactions of surface molecules in antigen presenting cells on T cell activation

        Efficient production of antigen specific cytotoxic T cells is critical for appropriate adoptive immune response. In vitro culture and expansion of human T lymphocyte clones are very sophisticated and subtle procedure in immune cell therapy and hard to control. Therefore, many groups devoted their efforts to manipulate artificial antigen presenting cells (aAPCs) that can induce T cell activation and clonal expansion. To mimicking of natural antigen-presenting cells, aAPCs encompass basic signal molecules required for T cell activation: MHC:antigen complexes, co-stimulatory molecules and soluble immune modulating molecules. Orchestrated organization of these molecules is important for efficient T cell activation. Here, we discuss how those molecules have been incorporated in several aAPC models, but also how physical properties od aAPC are important for interaction with T cells.

      • 방사능 노출과 방사선 보호 사례 연구

        최근 방사능 노출에 대한 염려에 대한 이슈가 높아지고 있다. 토양, 물, 공기, 작물등에 영향을 주며 장기적으로 환경오염 및 식량오염이 발생하며 나아가 사회적인 혼란 및 경제적 타격을 초래할 것으로 여겨진다. 방사능 노출로 질병을 일으키기도 하지만, 질병진단을 위한 방법으로, X선촬영, CT, PET-CT등 핵의학 검사를 실시하고, 암치료 목 적으로 방사선 동위원소에 노출시키기도 한다. 후쿠시마 방사능 폐기물 방류소식으로 물, 특히 식수에 포함되는 방사선에 대한 헝가리의 사례 연구 및 남극 대륙의 Larsemann Hills 지역 검사에서 세계 보건 기구에서 권장하는 음용수의 규정된 방사능 한계 내에 있었다. DNA손상, 세포 및 장기손상, 암에 관련된 내용을 중심으로 방사선 보호제를 살펴보 고, 또한 복구물질중 ACE억제제, 항산화제, 천연물질등에 관하여 여러 문헌을 조사하였다. 일상에서 방사능에 노출되 지만 안전할 수 있는 이유는 아마도 방사선보호물질, 방사능 피폭에 대한 복구 물질이 있을 것으로 여겨, 가능한 물질 들을 찾아보고자 한다. Recently, it is increasing that a issue of concern about radiation exposure. It affects soil, water, air, crops, etc., and in the long term, environmental pollution and food pollution occur, and it is considered to cause social problems and economic damage. Radiation exposure causes diseases and health problems, but as a method for diagnosing diseases, nuclear medicine tests such as X-ray imaging, CT, and PET-CT are conducted, and radiation isotopes are exposed for the purpose of cancer treatment. A Hungarian case study on radiation in water, particularly drinking water, following the release of radioactive waste from Fukushima, and an examination of the Larsemann Hills area in Antarctica, found that it was within the prescribed radioactivity limits of drinking water recommended by the World Health Organization. We looked at radioprotective agents, focusing on DNA damage, cell and organ damage, and cancer, and also investigated various literatures on ACE inhibitors, antioxidants, and natural substances among restoration materials. Although exposed to radiation in everyday life, the reason why it can be safe is probably because there is a radiation protection material and a recovery material for radiation exposure, so we are trying to find possible materials.

        Convergence study of oxidative stress from fraction of Xanthium strumarium L.

        Xanthium strumarium L. is an annual plant belongs to the family Asteraceae which is is called a ‘Cocklebur’ that is used for medicinal purposes. Convergent phyto-activity of various extracts of Xanthium strumarium L. (Asteraceae) was examined. We estimated antioxidant activity from ground part and fruit extract of X. strumarium using 1, 1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl radical (DPPH) and ABTS assay. The extract of X. strumarium was separated each fraction that of ethanol, petroleum ether, and ethyl acetate. It showed potent radical scavenging effect against the DPPH radical and ABTS. The study revealed that X. strumarium could be used as a potential source of natural antioxidant.

        Endothelium Independent Effect of Pelargonidin on Vasoconstriction in Rat Aorta

        In this study, we investigated the effects of pelargonidin, an anthocyanidin found in many fruits and vegetables, on endotheliumindependent vascular contractility to determine the underlying mechanism of relaxation. Isometric contractions of denuded aortic muscles from male rats were recorded, and the data were combined with those obtained in western blot analysis. Pelargonidin significantly inhibited fluoride-, thromboxane A2-, and phorbol ester-induced vascular contractions, regardless of the presence or absence of endothelium, suggesting a direct effect of the compound on vascular smooth muscles via a different pathway. Pelargonidin significantly inhibited the fluoride-dependent increase in the level of myosin phosphatase target subunit 1 (MYPT1) phosphorylation at Thr-855 and the phorbol 12,13-dibutyrate-dependent increase in the level of extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) 1/2 phosphorylation at Thr202/Tyr204, suggesting the inhibition of Rho-kinase and mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase (MEK) activities and subsequent phosphorylation of MYPT1 and ERK1/2. These results suggest that the relaxation effect of pelargonidin on agonist-dependent vascular contractions includes inhibition of Rho-kinase and MEK activities, independent of the endothelial function.

      • 도꼬마리 열매, 줄기 추출물의 항산화활성

        Objective: This study was conducted to investigate the antioxidant activities of Xanthium strumarium fruit and stem extracts. Methods: Antioxidant activities of Xanthium strumarium fruit and stem extracted with various concentrations of ethylacetate (EtOAC) were investigated. The 1,1- diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical and hydroxyl scavenging assay and Fe2+ chelating assay were performed for antioxidative effect and φX-174 RF I DNA cleavage assay and intracellular DNA damage assay were used for inhibitory effect of intracellular DNA damage. Results: When the different concentrations of EtOAC (0.32, 1.6, 8, 40, 200㎍/㎖) were tested in fruit extraction of Xanthium strumarium, the extracts at 200 ug/ml resulted in the highest DPPH radical and hydroxyl scavenging and Fe2+ chelating activities, which were 86.05, 59.52, and 48.21%, respectively. Fruit extracts showed the higher antioxidative activities and inhibitory effects than stem extracts at same concentration. Conclusion: The present study indicated that fruit extracts of Xanthium strumarium showed the higher antioxidant activities and protective effect of DNA damage against the oxidative stress compared with the stem extracts.
