A new persimmon (Diospyros kaki L. Thunb.) cultivar, ‘Gampung’, a progeny derived from the cross between ‘Daeandangam’ and‘Taishu’ in 2004, was finally selected in 2013. Fruits of ‘Gampung’ were available for harvest on October 24 in the Yeong-am area. It hada very large fruit size of 413 g on average, and high soluble solids of approximately 14.7 °Bx. Its flesh taste was good, and it had a crispytexture and rich juice. The shape of the fruit was round oblate from the side view, and it had orange skin. Physiological disorders suchas fruit cracking or skin fine cracking rarely occurred in this cultivar (Registration No. 8030).

조생종 추석용 품종을 육성하기 위해서 2000년 ‘서촌조생’ 에 ‘조홍시’을 교배하여 얻은 실생묘를 전라남도 영암군 소재 배연구소 교배육성 포장에 식재하였고, 그 중에서 과실 특성이 우수한 00-15-87계통을 1차 선발하여 정밀 검토한 결과, 연차간 변이가 적고 제반 특성이 우수하여 최종 선발하여 ‘추연’으로 명명하였다. ‘추연’의 숙기는 9월 20일경으로 조생종이며, 평균 과중은 180 g이고, 당도는 16.0 oBx이었으며, 과즙이 많고, 과육이 아삭하여 식미가 우수하였다. ‘추연’의 과형은 편원형이고 과피색은 오렌지색으로 외관이 수려하고, 과정부 열과, 과피미세균열 등 생리장해가 발생하지 않아 재배 관리가 쉽다(등록번호: 제7074호). A new persimmon (Diospyros kaki L. Thunb.) cultivar, ‘Chuyeon’, which was developed by crossing ‘Nishimurawase’ and ‘Johongsi’ in 2000, followed by first selection of ‘00-15-87’ with good fruit characteristics in 2008 and final selection in in 2011. Mature fruits of ‘Chuyeon’ can be harvested around September 20 in Yeoung-am province. The cultivar has a small fruit size of 180 g on average and high soluble solids of about 16.0 oBx. The flesh tastes was good with crispy texture and rich juice. Its fruit shape is round oblate when we looked at it from the side and the fruit skin color is orange. The physiological disorder such as cracking or skin fine cracking rarely occurs on the surface of fruits.

본 시험은 최근 소비트렌드의 변화에 따라 소비자들이 쉽고편하게 먹을 수 있는 씨 없는 감 개발의 선결조건인 배수체(12x) 교배 모본을 선발하기 위해 수행되었다. 염색체가 배가된 배수체 개체를 얻기 위해 교배 종자의 배배양을 통해 얻은 유묘의 생장점에 콜히친을 처리하였다. 콜히친을 0.03, 0.05%, 0.1% 등3수준으로 처리한 결과, 0.05%에서 염색체가 배가된 개체의 발생률이 가장 높았다. 콜히친 처리 후 우리는 신초와 뿌리의 발생을 유도하기 위한 배지 조건을 구명하는 시험을 수행하였다. 신초는 10 μM, 30 zeatin이 각각 첨가된 1/2MS배지에서 생장이잘 되었으며, 뿌리는 10 mM NAA+5% DMSO에 5초 동안 침지후 1/2MS배지에 배양하였을 때 생장이 잘 되었다. 또한 콜히친처리에 의해 염색체가 배가된 개체(12x)의 기공 특성을 조사한결과 염색체가 배가된 개체(12x)는 염색체 배가가 되지 않은 개체(6x)와 교배친(6x) 보다 잎의 공변세포 밀도는 더 적고, 크기는 더 큰 경향이었다. This was carried out to develop a chromosome-doubled (12x) persimmon that will be used as a crossing parent to select seedless persimmon cultivars with the change of the consumption trend recently. To obtain a chromosome-doubled (12x) persimmon, colchicine was applied at the meristem of seedlings in vitro derived from cross among hexaploid persimmon (Diopyros kaki Thunb.). These were treated with 0.03%, 0.05% and 0.1% colchicine respectively for doubling chromosome, and it was most effective at the concentration of 0.05% colchicine. After colchicine treatment, we conducted tests to elucidate conditions for inducing shoot and root development. As the result, the shoots grew best when cultivated at 1/2MS media plus 10 and 30 μM zeatin respectively, and the roots grew best when cultivated at 1/2MS media after dipping for 5 seconds at 10 mM NAA+5% DMSO. We also compared seedlings that have chromosome (6x) do not doubled and crossing parents (6x) and chromosome-doubled seedlings (12x). As the result, these chromosome-doubled seedlings (12x) showed lower stomatal density and larger stomatal size.

In 2014, a new high-quality, pollination-constant, non-astringent persimmon (Diospyros kaki L. Thunb.) cultivar, ‘Wonmi’, a breeding of ‘Fuyu’ and ‘Taishu’ from 2005, was developed. ‘Wonmi’ fruit were harvested on October 8 in Yeongam, South Korea. The fruit are medium-sized (220 g on average), with a high amount of soluble solids (15.1 oBx). The juicy flesh has a pleasant taste and crispy texture. The fruit shape is round oblate, and the skin color is orange with a graceful appearance. Physiological disorders, such as stylar-end or fine skin cracking, rarely occur in this cultivar (Registration No. 7724).

This study was conducted to elucidate the cause of micro-cracking in the exocarp of 'Jinmi' peach (Prunus persica). through the microscopic observation of fruit skin development in 4 varieties such as 'Jinmi', 'Kanoiwa Hakuto', 'Kawanakajima Hakuto', and 'Yumyeong'. Micro-cracking was noted in 59.1% of 'Jinmi', 30.6% of 'Kanoiwa Hakuto', 21.5% 'Kawanakajima Hakuto' and 6.4% of 'Yumyeong', respectively. The development of intercellular spaces, which increased rapidly with the fruit development, was easily observed at 69 days after full bloom. Histological studies revealed that the number of outer epiderm cell layers of 'Jinmi' was smaller than that of the other three cultivars, and thinner than the 'Kawanakajima Hakuto' and 'Yumyeong'. Moreover, 'Jinmi' exhibited smaller and flatter shapes in the sub-epidermal cell layer than those of the 'Kawanakajima Hakuto' and 'Yumyeong' at harvest season. Therefore, these results suggest that micro-cracking of 'Jinmi' fruit skin was due to poor-developed outer epidermis and well-developed intercellular spaces just under exocarp as compared with other varieties.
