Thermal performance of materials in high-temperature environments is important for thermal-structural design of highspeed flight vehicle. In this study, the measurement method for thermal physical properties of material and the behavior of material at high temperature were established, using a non-contact and full-filed high-temperature measurement technique. This technique employs an infrared radiation heating device to heat a stainless steel (S304) sample up to 590℃. The images of the sample surface due to thermal load at various temperatures were recorded using CCD cameras. Afterwards, full-field thermal deformation of the sample was determined using digital image correlation (DIC). The results of the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) and contraction will be compared with exist values. According to a comparison, CTE were close to the values available in handbook. The results reveal that DIC is an effectiveness and accuracy for measuring full field high-temperature thermal deformation in mechanical and aerospace engineering.

In this study, the applicability of digital image correlation (DIC) technique on the thermal buckling of circular aluminum plates subjected to uniform distribution of temperature load was investigated. The aluminum plate was placed in a titanium ring without being fixed. The differences in the coefficient of thermal expansion between aluminum plate and titanium ring resulted in the buckle of aluminum plate at a certain temperature. The buckling temperature was determined from the full-field deformation shape and temperature-displacement curve that were obtained using the DIC-based ARAMIS® software. In order to verify the measurement method, the finite element method was used to perform nonlinear buckling analysis with the influence of imperfections. The results showed that the buckling temperature from FEM was slightly larger than that from the experimental results.

In this research, the thermal interaction behavior of a circular aluminum plate inside a stainless steel ring was investigated at temperature up to 550 °C using a non-contact and full-field high-temperature deformation measurement method. The images of the structure surface due to thermal load at various temperatures were recorded with charged-coupled device cameras (CCD). Afterwards, full-field thermal deformation of the sample was determined with DIC technique. To verify the proposed measurement technique, the finite element analysis method was used to calculate high-temperature deformation of structure. The results of the experiment were close to the simulation results. In addition, the process of heating-up and cooling-down the structure was also considered to examine the recoverable characteristic of the structure. The results show the efficacy of DIC in achieving such measurements at high-temperatures.
