In design, transverse analysis of the prestressed concrete box girder is generally performed by 2D frame analysis. But, it is well known that this method overestimates transverse moment due to live load which governs the transverse design of box girder. So, 3-dimensional finite element model is adopted to analysis of hox girder for live load There are many pits easy to be fallen in 3D FE analysis of box girder. In this study, the factors considered during 3D FE analysis of box girder and how to use the results of this analysis in design are discussed. The results of this study will be a guidance of the transverse design of box girder using 3D FE analysis.
