Cryposporidium species have a wide host range. These coccidian parasites are found in close association with epithelial cells of many species of animals including man. The gastrointestinal tract is most commonly affected in young ruminants and this parasite is thought to be considerable importance in calf diarrhea complex. Major outbreaks of cryptosporidiosis have been reported in calves, lambs, pigs and others including avian species. Cryptosporidiosis is transmitted by oocysts of Cryptosporidium species. Because cryptosporidiosis is common infection among animals, early literature considered it a zoonosis. Human infections contracted from calves, cats, and horse feces. However, the resrvoir host is longer considered the major source of infection. Mild cases of disease have been reported in farm workers. Immunosuppressed, very young and very old persons should avoid contact with this parasite because it may cause severe diarrhea. In order to detect of Cryptosporidium sp infection from feces of cattle and pigs at Chonbuk Iksan and Kunsan area, sedimentation and modified acid fast stain were applied. The positive rate of Cryptosporidium sp infection from 1,176 of cattle and 267 of pigs were 0.5% and 16.8%, respectively. According to area in Iksan and Kunsan, the positive rates were 0.4% and 0.9% from cattle, and 18.9% and 12.1% from pigs, respectively. In cattle, positive detection rate was 0.6% in milking cows but not in Korean cattle.

As a series of basic study for the prevention of zoonotic parasites, fecal samples and internal organs of cats in Iri and its vicinity were examined for helminth and their ova or protozoan oocysts from November 1994 to March 1995. The results obtained were summarized as follows; Out of the 133 samples, 101(75.9%) were positive and 135(101.5%) were cumulative positive for parasites. The following were identified in the samples and positive numbers of each species detected were; Toxocara cati, 51;Isospora spp., 27;Spirometra erinacei, 26;Taenia taeniaeformis, 24;Diphyllobothrium latum, 4;and Capillaria spp., 3, respectively. In analyzing the state of infection, 64.9%(61 heads) of all the cats inspected had a single infection, while the rest(excluding the 32 uninfected cats) had mixed infections: 27.6%(26 heads), 6.4%(6 heads) and 1.1%(1 heads) had double, triple, quadruple infections, respectively. From these results, it can be concluded that since the helminth, zoonotic parasites, in Korean autochthonal cats cause not only various disorders, but also can be very harmful to human beings, they are considered to be of great significance to public health.

In this report the following results were obtained after the subjects including 155 cases of gastric ulcer and 211 cases of gastric malignancy were chosen and analized to know the characteristic points of endoscopic fincings. 1. The most characteristics were coloration and the changes of various forms. The floor of benign ulcer appeared white or tint yellow by 82.5 per cent in its coloration; on the contrary the floor of malignant ulcer was various colorations such as white, tint yellow, grey-greenish or blackbrownish etc. 2. In hemorrhagic findngs, gastric ca. showed hemorrhage by 46.9 per cent, while gastric ulcer by 12.9 per cent. Old hemorrhage were noted in almost ca. and fresh hemorrhage in almost cases of ulcer. Gastric ca. showed the location of hemorrhage more frequently at the edges and surrounding areas of the lesions compared with gastric ulcer. 3. In the variation forms of the lesions which is one of the endoscopic characteristic signs, gastric ca. revealed irregular forms by 94.7 per cent, elevated edge 78.3 per cent and nodular surface with dirty appearance 88.6 per cent. The Henning's sign to be seen in ulcer was positive in 29 per cent of cases. 4. Possibility of the endoscopic observation on the benign and malignant ulcer: The excellent or good results were obtained in 93.5 per cent of all cases. 3.7 per cent of cases exhibited poor results. However, the endoscopic examination were complete failed in 4.5 per cent of 391 cases of gastric ulcer and gastric ca.
