The reasonable level of nitrogen fertilizes are a key factor to reduce environmental contamination as well as to increase crop yield and quality. As the application amount of nitrogen fertilizer increased, the yield of tea leaves, the contents of vitamin C and chlorophyll increased; however, excessive level 150 kg/l0a showed decreaed the yield of tea leaves. (60 kg/l0a : 440 kg ⇒ 150 kg/l0a : 465kg) On the other hand, the increased level of nitrogen fertilizer did not show difference in contents of total nitrogen, total free amino acid, caffeine and tannin, while those contents were increased or decreased to 60 kg/10a, but showed counter appearance from 72 kg/10a. As the application amount of nitrogen fertilizer increased, contents of 4 anions except F⁻ and 4 cations except Ca²⁺ were increased. Eleven kinds of amino acids was isolated from third harvested leaves of tea where the content of theanine occupied over 50% ; from 420 to 572 mg/100g. The contents of fatty acids and catechin did not show correlation with application level of nitrogen fertilizer. The content of fatty acid was produced 1,614~1,801mg/100g, and content of catechin was produced 12.83~13.83%. In scoring test, 60 kg/l0a treatmemt was 1.0~7.0 point higher compared to other treatments. Consequently, 60 kg/l0a is considered to be best level of nitrogen fertilizer in terms of increase crop yield, quality, and scoring test.

This experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of progesterone administration on the farrowing of sows and growth performance of piglets born from them. Total 30 sows were allotted to 5 treatments(6 sows per treatment) including control group. In groups 1 and 2, 10mg of Lutalyse was injected intramuscularly to each sow on day 113 and 112 of gestation, respectively. In group 3, 2mg of Altrenogest was administered on day 112 of gestation and 10mg of Lutalyse was injected 24hours after the Altrenogest administration and in group 4, 2mg of Altrenogest was administered on day 113 of gestation. Interval to farrowing and gestation length decreased by PGF₂α injection and increased by progesterone administration. Duration of farrowing was longest when PGF₂α was injected on day 112 of gestation(4.7hrs) and it was shortest when PGF₂α was injected on day 113 of gestation(2.2hrs). There was no significant difference in total litter size, number of pigs born alive and growth rate to 5 weeks between treatments. The body weights of piglets at 3 weeks and 5 weeks of age from the sows administered progesterone were heavier than those of piglets from the sows of the other treatments. However, there was no significant difference in the days to first estrus after weaning between treatments.

Eighty-one Landrace barrows were used to investigate the effects of recombinant porcine somatotropin (rPST) administration on requirements of dietary digestible energy(DE) and lysine of finishing pigs. Pigs were ingected 10㎎ rPST per day for 23 days(50 to 90㎏) and allotted in a 3×3 factorial arrangement of treatments, nine pigsJtreatment, with three levels of DE(3.4, 3.6 or 3.8mcal/㎏) and lysine (0.8, 1.2 or 1.6%). Six pigs from each treatment were randomly selected and slaughtered to determine carcass mesurements. Though rPST was administered, increasing DE and lysine concentration of the diets improved daily gain and feed per 1㎏ gain, but had no effect on lean meat and backfat thickness. However the optimum DE and lysine level based on growth performance, DE and lysine intakes and feed cost per 1㎏ gain seemed to be 3.6 mcal DE/㎏ and 1.2? in the corn soybean meal diet when rPST was administered.
