Barke-by-Wire systems are lighter in weight, faster in response, easier to implement than the conventional brake systems. Because brake systems are directly related to passengers’ life, guarantee of system’s robustness are essential for implementation. In order to ensure the reliability of the Electro-Mechanical Brake(EMB), a robust dry-type BBW controller should be designed. In this study, a fault detection algorithm is designed based on classified faults. Fault Tree Analysis is used to show how the faults are occurred and how their causes are related to the basic events. In order to detect the rotor faults, magnetic flux leakage are estimated using the estimation algorithm. By choosing a proper threshold, it is shown that rotor fault can be detected.
