In this study, a meta-analysis was conducted on studies of extensive reading activities in the setting of Korean elementary schools to investigate the effects of extensive reading activities on the improvement of English proficiency, the affective domain of elementary school students, and the moderating effects of extensive reading activities. The research questions established through this meta-analysis are as follows: First, what is the overall effect size of elementary school English extensive reading? Second, what is the effect size of elementary school English extensive reading on linguistic domains (reading, listening, writing, vocabulary) and affective domains (interest, confidence)? Third, what is the effect size for each control variable of extensive reading (with or without teacher intervention, type of extensive reading, number of classes, and class time)? For this purpose, a total of 21 articles about extensive reading in elementary school from 2001 to 2020 were selected and investigative variables were coded. The meta-analysis was ensued to measure the effect size of overall, linguistic and affective domains, and effect sizes were compared for each moderating variable. As a result of this meta-analysis, extensive reading activity in elementary school showed a medium or higher effect size in both linguistic and affective domains, confirming that extensive reading was an effective activity to support English learning for elementary school students. In addition, it was checked as to which variables controlled the effect of extensive reading in elementary school. It was found that the longer the reading session performed per period, the higher the effect size.

This study focused on the success factors for English extensive reading on elementary students. For this purpose, interviews were conducted with elementary school students who had been successfully continuing their participation in the online extensive reading program in English. In the process, interview data from five students were collected and analyzed to sort out the success factors. The student’s extensive reading experiences were also analyzed and thematized through a repetitive qualitative thematization method. The results of the study were as follows: First, the sense of competition and achievement were strong agents to motivate students to successfully continue in extensive reading. Second, being positively influenced by the peer group was acting as a factor for enabling successful extensive reading. Third, it was found that the encouragement of parents, especially in the early stage of extensive reading, helped students continue to read. Students have gradually made it a habit to read the book in a self-directed form through encouragement of their parents. Fourth, students who successfully conducted online-based self-directed extensive reading experienced the improvement of integrated language function in the reading process.
제안한 Half Bridge Sub-module을 통한 Modular Multilevel HVDC 시스템의 DC 고장 사고에 대한 차단

In power transmission of multi-system systems based on renewable energy today, high voltage DC transmission based on modular multi-level converter has many advantages in terms of high power quality and cost. Here, protection against external factors such as faults and rapid system recovery are very important issues for stable power transmission. In this paper, a method for system protection from the line to line DC faults on the grid is poposed. The proposed method is a method of suppressing the fault current by forming an inverse voltage slope through the fault ride through (FRT) method in the AC link and converter system according to a command operated in the event of a fault in the path of the fault current formed. The proposed method can be composed of semiconductor devices that are reduced compared to the existing sub-module models. For the verification of the paper, simulation through PSIM was used.

Cycloidal Reluctance Motor (CRM), called conventional wobble motor or cycloidal motor, shows a structure that can combine rotational and reciprocating motions such as a Crankshaft or Cam in the mechanical field. CRM differs from general motors in that the central axis of the motor and the central axis of the rotor are different, so the rotor is eccentric to the center of the stator. CRM has the advantage of having a large torque at low speed. This paper proposes a magnetic structure of a stator that can generate a larger torque in CRM. To verify the effectiveness of a given structure, the magnetic path was analyzed, the pole arc of the stator pole was changed or a flange was added to the stator pole. And the winding turns of stator were changed respectively. The efficacy of the magnetic analysis is validated using Altair FLUX, a finite element method program.
