In this paper, effects of emission control and fuel economy were studied as lean mixture was supplied by heating media and mixing tube. The device was installed between carbureter and intake manifold and was heated by coolant water. The heating media and mixing tube was shown to be effective device for reducing emission and fuel consumption.

This paper presents a control system for the exhaust emissions from automotive gasoline engine and the lean mixture approach were adopted in the experiments, which were composed of the process of charging heated and compressed air into the throttle body of carburetor. The system carried out to control the concentration of hydrocarbon by various air temperature and pressure charged. The result of the experiment indicate that the air temperature and pressure were affected the reducing hydrocarbon concentration in the exhaust emission.

Engine performances and emission characteristics were investiated, using a experimental single cylinder engine with methanol-LPG (butane) fuel bled.<br/> The results were compared with the case of neat methanol and gasoline.The blending ratio of methanol to LPG was reasonable at 90:10(M90) and in using M90, the engine performences including output, brake specific fuel conlumption and brake thermal efficiency, were better than those of neat methanol and gasoline.<br/> CO emission of M90 was lower than that of neat methanol by 15% and lower than that of gasoline by 35%.HC emission of M90 was also lower than that gasoline by 46-85% in the whole range of ¢.The concentration of NO_x emission of M90 was lower than that of gasoline and higher than that of neat methanol.

Experiments about engine performance using alcohol-gasoline blend as a fuel are studied. A conventional 4cycle 4cylinder gasoline engine is used. Measurements on torque, output, specific fuel consumption, and emissions are made over ignition tim-ing and mixing ratio.<br/> Up to vol. 15% of alcohol, torque and output using alcohol-gasoline blend are al-<br/> most same with using only gasoline, and specific fuel consumption is improved about 7 %. In emissions alcohol-gasoline blend is more effective than gasoline.
산화촉매에 의한 자동차 배기 GAS 중 일산화탄소 및 탄화수소의 정화에 관한 연구

This paper presents emission control of carbon-monoxide and hydrocarbon by oxidizing catalyst. Oxidizing catalyst consists of CuO, Fe₂O₃ and Cr₂ O₃. The factors of the efficiency of purification by oxidizing catalyst are space velocity, temperature, composition of ex. gas and secondary air. The experiment was carried out to control the factors of efficiency of purification. The result of experiment indicates that space velocity, drive shaft torque, engine speed and secondary air affected the efficiency of purification of carbon-monoxide and hydrocarbon.

The predictions of the mean effective pressure and the exhaust emission of NOx in hydrogen fueled spark ignition engine were studied. And the predictions were compared to the experimental results of D.B. Kittelson and H.S. Homan.<br/> The modeling was based on Otto cycle and the prediction of NOx was performed by extended Zeldovich mechanism.<br/> The differences between predictions and experimental results were 20-30% in the mean effective pressure and 10-20% in the concentration of NOx where the equivalence ratio φ was 0.6 - 0.8.
Foot Adjusting Motion on Irregularly Protruded Uneven Surface for Biped Robotsx

This paper proposes the control method for walking of biped robots on geometrically realistic uneven surface with irregular protrusions. The focus is to maintain the robot's stability performing leg motions successively in order to adapt the sole to uneven terrain. A foot has 15 force sensors at regular intervals which fit into the 5*3 terrain matrix whose elements mean the height of the protrusions. The control strategy of landing phase (LP) is to form a larger and appropriately located polygon between foot and ground. Computer simulations of 28-degree-of-freedom biped robot with the 6-DOF environment model show that the stable compliant locomotion on the uneven surface are achieved by the proposed method.
