노예무역과 식민지전쟁의 희생자들을 향한 워즈워스의 연민

        김은령 ( Kim Eunryung ) 대한영어영문학회 2007 영어영문학연구 Vol.33 No.1

This paper aims at examining how the British Abolition Movement contributed to the making of a part of Wordsworth’s poetry. Wordsworth was fundamentally against the slavery system, the trade of slaves, and colonial wars because they denied in principle the human nature of the enslaved black people rejecting the idea of equal human beings. Wordsworth tended to show abolitionist consciousness through his sympathy for the suffering people victimized by wars and poverty who were represented as the symbols of human dignity and liberty in his poetry. Wordsworth’s deep sympathy for the wretched people in Britain was his own way of fighting against inhumanity of the slave system because the uprooted people such as female vagrants and discharged soldiers were in fact other casualties produced by the slave system and the colonial policy of British government. Animation Rendering of Literary Text toward Digital Poetics -The Intermediality and the Vortex Space of Blake`s Graphical Language

        김은령 ( Eunryung Kim ) 한국영상미디어협회 2011 예술과 미디어 Vol.10 No.1

The project seeks to set William Blake`works in the context computer science, media engineering, and the expanded poetry texts like digital poetry based on the medial changes for the purpose of exploring the artist`s unique esthetic mind and notion of space where the dynamic inter-playing between image and words. Assuming that Blake was an early media artist to overcome the limits of artistic medium, I tried to construct vortex space by animating his illustrations with the helps of various technologies. The animated text was resulted in multimedia art product in the three-dimensional space of human cognition and provided multi-sensory aesthetic experience of the text. Through the these process, poems could acquire the materiality or the spatiality by launching literary, visual, and sonic arts simultaneously.

디지털미디어 모델링을 통한 영시의 텍스트 확장 가능성 고찰 - 매체성 연구를 중심으로

        김은령(Eunryung Kim) 한국영미문학교육학회 2008 영미문학교육 Vol.12 No.1

After the invention of digital computing in the middle of the twentieth century, the new textual technologies have enabled more flexible and powerful mediums than any other preceding medium. Due to the digital system using the database, the notion of text itself breaks down into the interface and the storage medium, and these digital media texts can be constructed on the basis of multimedia like image, sound, and moving pictures. And these current textual conditions have changed the concepts of what we used to call "reading" and "writing." In these contexts, I propose to model the digital media text of Blake"s composite arts which are composed of poems and illustrations with adapting the notion of digital poetics to transcend the demarcations of the two mediums, words and images.<BR>  My study is focusing on examination of the relationship between the mediums in the traditional art history and aesthetic contexts, and the digital media modeling of Blake"s arts, I think, has to be done on the ground of theoretical approach of remediation and intermediality. The interdependent relatedness of word and image has been explored by the many artists and theoreticians including Blake for a long time, and iconology studies and ekphrasis tradition were also reflections of the deep interests in the concept of mediality. Blake"s engraving and printing methods, which he called "infernal method" himself, were totally different from his contemporary printing method and technology that had begun since renaissance period and had followed the Ramism whose crucial core was the logic of dichotomy. Blake"s notion of medium and dichotomy is obvious in his printing methods and arts, in terms that he rejects conventional printing methods using the apparent dichotomy principles, and he accomplishes his own chaosthetics through melting the surfaces away and displaying the infinite which he really wants to represent. For these reasons, Blake"s arts are very appropriate for the digital media modeling to embody the materiality in the virtual space of medias which enables for us to experience the mutisensory cognition of Blake"s arts. My pilot modeling is animated version of printed text and this remediation can open a new dimension of the literary texts. But the interdisciplinary study and the application method of this modeling for the pedagogical tools should be considered more in the future.
