This paper deals with the market models with queueing property. Service industry is a typical example of that kind of the market. For simplicity, duopoly cases are examined. This is considered as two server queueing model with charge. Interestingly, even if the same services are offered by the two firms, differentiated price for each firm can be justified. For further studies, (1) more than two firms can join the market ; (2) the assumption of the poisson input stream of the customers can be changed ; (3) different game rules for firms strategy can be introduces.
한국의 한 제조산업에서의 경험곡선, 기술 및 경쟁에 관한 연구

Strategic decision making in industries which have experience effects in manufacturing, demand, technology requires dynamic optimization approach by nature. In this paper, some mathematical models for experience effects are reviewed and modified to get better explanation for some corporate strategies and behavior in the real world. Foci are specially on decision makings for pricing, competition, quality control, R & D investment, and capacity improvement with consideration of experience effects. As a case study, a Korean watch company's strategies are analyzed in this context.
한국의 통신SI산업 : 기업전략의 관점에서의 연구 A Strategic Perspective

Systems integration (SI) business is burgeoning in Korea. This paper outlined the current state of the Korean SI industry especially in telecommunication area, and provided a strategic perspective of the business. System integration business is a new area in telecommunication and information industry. This business requires integration of information technology, telecommunication network, and manpower. The rapid change in computer and communication technology and globalization of the market competition brought the dynamism of the business. By studying the recent development of SI business in the United States, Japan, and Europe, we characterize the SI business, and denote the opportunities and risks for Korean SI companies. The size of the SI market in Korea will grow up to $ 10 billion by the 21st century. At least 15% of the market will be the telecom SI market. So, many so-called SI companies are trying to grab the teleoommunication SI market in Korea. Most of them are computer hardware-oriented companies and have little experiences in telecommunication. Only few are the serious telecom SI players, who have some expertise in network business. Furthermore, the world-class telecom majors such as AT & T, NTT, GTE, Pacific Telesys, HP, and BT are ready to enter the Korean market. In the conclusion, we proposed some generic strategies far Korean SI companies 1) organization and manpower for customization, 2) competitive advantages from marketing, project management and telecom network, 3) strategic alliance among venders, network providers, and SI companies, 4) custom-oriented and differentiated services, 5) advanced telecommunication network : integrated high-speed global network.
