Heat transfer equation is first reviewed and then governing equation of moisture diffusion. Analogy scheme is applied to analysis the moisture absorption problem of polymers. It make possible to numerically analyze the diffusion problem for single medium by using commercial finite element code if it is under the isothermal loading condition. It is extended to special multimaterial system by introducing pressure ratio function, whose moisture characteristics of materials are proportional to temperature only. The weight changes of silicon-nonconductive-polymer joint model due to moisture absorption is measured and been very close to the numerical results as for single media with boundary condition with zero concentration, but yields numerical errors as for multisystem media.

This study was been conducted to determine chemical characteristics of soils in the major districts cultivating flue-cured tobacco plant. Also native soil productivities were measured by means of bioassay planting tobacco plant without fertilizer at 87 selected lolls through pot and field experiments. Inorganic nutrient in soils affecting the dry weight of tobacco leaves cultivated in the field were investigated. The results obtained are summarized as follows; 1. Among soil chemical characteristics, pH, $NO_3$-N, $NH_4$-N , $P_2O_5$, and Mg Influenced significantly the dry weight of tobacco loaves In pot experiment, whole In the field experiments, pH, $NO_3$-N, $NO_3$-N+$NH_4$-N, and Ca had influence. 2. Correlation coefficients between soil chemical characteristics and dry weight of tobacco leaves were higher in pot experiment than field. The results revealed that soil morphological characteristics might more close influence on dry weight of tobacco leaves than chemical characteristics. 3. For prediction of dry weight (Productivity) of tobacco leaves without fertilizer multiple regression analysis were introduced using troll chemical characteristics. A combination of pH, $NO_3$-N, and Ca was very reliable for prediction of productivity as equation. y=5.02+18.07$x_1$ +2.61$x_2$ +5.36$x_3$ R=0.444** Where $x_1$ : pH, $x_2$ : $NO_3$-N, $x_3$:Ca

This survey was been conducted to classify the distribution of morphological and chemical characteristics of soils in the major districts cultivating flue-cured tobacco plant. The results obtained are summarized as follows; 1. Tobacco was mainly grown in local valley, 7-15% slopes, loam and sandyloam containing gravels, and productivity classes of soil were corresponded to 3-4 degree for upland crops. 2. most soils were acidic (below pH 5.5) and contained low organic matters. (below 2%) 3. Dominant soil series were SANGJU, JIGOG, SEOCTO, SAMGAG ANRYONG, SUAM, and YESAN.

This paper reports on the research which investigates acoustic signals acquired in turning with rough and finish simultaneously. The material is aluminum thin pipe. Two acousto-ultrasonic sensors were set on the finish and the rough bite of the CNC machine. It was first evaluated that one source was affected by the other. It was found that two signals were little affected each other, and that the acoustic signal from the finish bite was more related to the surface defects. Signals from the finish bite only were then analyzed in order to observe several types of surface defects. Second the fundamental experiments were accomplished to study the effects of machine vibration and material state. The signal characteristics due to surface defects were studied from the collected acoustic signals. The analysis was based on real time data, root mean squared average and frequency spectrum by fast fourier transform. As a result, the acoustic signals were made effects by machine condition, material structure. The acoustic signal from the finish bite was closely correlated with surface quality. Two types surface micro defects were then evaluated by the signal characteristics.

This paper reports on the research which investigates acoustic signals acquired in progressive compressing, hole blanking, shearing and burr compacting process. The work piece is the head pin of the electric connector, whose raw material is the preformed steel bar. An acoustic sensor was set on the bed of hydraulic press. Because the acquired signals include the dynamic characteristics generated for all the processes, it is required to investigate signal characteristics corresponding to unit process. The corresponding dynamic characteristics to the respective process were first studied by analyzing the signals respectively acquired from compressing, blanking and compacting process. The combined signals were then periodically analyzed from the grinding to the grinding in the sound frequency domain and in the ultrasonic wave. The frequency of around 9 kHz in the sound frequency domain was much correlated to the tool wear. The characteristic frequency in the acoustic emission domain between 100 kHz and 500 kHz was not only clearly observed right after tool grinding but its amplitude was also related to the wear. The frequency amplitudes of 160 kHz and 320 kHz were big enough to be classified by the noise. The noise amplitudes are getting bigger, and their energy was much bigger as coming to the next regrinding. The signal analysis was based on the real time data and its frequency spectrum by Fourier Transform. As a result, the acousto-ultrasonic signals were much related to the tool wear progression.
