In order to increase the anti-oxidation property during the tailor welding blanked hot press forming pro-cess for a high strength boron steel sheet we performed a different coating method on the boron-steel sheet such as 87% Al-13% Si and fe-8.87 Zn dipping plating procedure However during laser welding process the Al-Si coated steel sheet has showed a low tensile strength and about half value of elongation than the original boron-steel sheet. Aluminum and silicon elements of coating layer were diffused into the boron-steel matrix and have shown a low strength result than non-coated specimen. On the other hand Zinc-coated boron-steel has expectedly showed a excellent tensile strength and micro-harness value in the welded area like original boron-steel. N/A Background : The purpose of this study was to determine whether the distribution of vitamin D receptor (VDR) polymorphisms in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients group is different from that of the control group and whether there is a relationship between VDR genotype and radiographic severity or bone mineral density (BMD) of RA patients. Methods : The VDR genotype was determined by polymerase chain reaction and digestion with three restriction enzymes Taq I, Apa I and Bsm I in 78 healthy women and 97 female RA patients. Hand X-rays were scored by Larsen's method and bone mineral density was measured by dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) in RA patients. Results: VDR genotypic distributions in Koreans were much different from Caucasians in each control and RA patient groups. Especially, tt allele and BB allele were very rare, prominently differentiating from Caucasians. But within Koreans, no significant difference of VDR genotypic frequency was observed between control group and RA patients group. And there was no significant relationship of VDR genotype with radiographic scores, nor with BMD scores in RA patients. Conclusion: The distribution of VDR polymorphisms in Korean RA patients was not different from controls. The VDR polymorphisms correlate neither with the radiographic severity of RA, nor with BMD scores in Korean RA patients.(Korean J Med 62:209-217, 2002)

N/A Retrospective analysis of cholescintigraphy and ultrasonography was done in 76 patients with clinically suspected acute cholecystitis to assess the relative value of the two modalities. Excluding the patients with obstructive jaundice, the overall results of cholescintigraphy(sensitivity 100%, spectificity 95%, false positive rate 5%, false negative rate 0%, accuracy 97%) are nearly identical with or rather superior to those of the ultrasonography(sensitivity 94%, specificity 100%, false positive rate 0%, false negative rate 5%, accuracy 97%). We recommend the cholescintigraphy as the initial modality in patients with clincally suspected acute cholecystitis, and ultrasonography can be used in jaundiced patients to exclude the possibility of the false positive of cholescintigraphy.

Determination of liver size is essential in diagnosis of liver disease because liver diseases are invariably accompanied by alteration of liver size. The liver size is used to determine by palpation, or plain radiograph, or on radiograph after contrast injection. Radionuclide scanning is one of the methods of choice in measuring the liver size. Many investigators have described objective criteria that can be used for evaluation of liver disease. However, the liver size is not easy to calculate from the standard two-dimensional views. Furthermore, there is considerable overlap of the normal and abnormal range. The purpose of this investigation is to confirm the three-dimensional method with successful outlining of the liver using multiple cut off scanning technique. The weight of 202 normal adult livers was calculated by the multiple cut off scanning technique. With the sum of a series of cross section areas obtained by the count-rate cut off values increasing successively, the liver weight was calculated by using planimeter and the equation of Yagan. The results were as follows; 1. The weight of normal adult liver was average 1423.0g, and ranged from 902g to 1930g. 2. There was a little sexual difference on the measured liver weight in normal adult. The mate was somewhat heavier than female in the weight of liver, but no definite difference between age groups was demonstrated. 3. The relative weight of normal adult liver was average 887.1g, and ranged from 547g to 1184g, 4. The liver weight was proportional to the height, weight and body surface area, but the relative weight of liver was not proportional to the height, weight and body surface. 5. These facts suggested the importance of relative liver weight to determine the liver size.
