        피부선병(Scrofuloderma) 2예

        Scrofuloderma results from a direct extension of an underlying tuberculosis focus such as the lymph node, bone or joint to the underlying skin, and is often associated with pulmonary tuberculosis. One 72-year-old man presented with erythematous swollen patch with scales on the left hand and erythematous swollen patch on the left elbow. He had tuberculous osteomyelitis of left elbow. And another patient who is a 59-year-old man presented with hemorrhagic, purulent ulcers with crust and exudate on the left and right chest. Each size of ulcers are 6.0×5.Ocm and 5.O×5.Ocm. He had reactive pulmonary tuberculosis and tuberculous spondylitis. Biopsy specimens from the skin showed lymphocytes, epitheloid cells, and Langerhan`s giant cells with caseation necrosis. Acid-fast bacilli were identified on AFB staining. We report two unusual cases of scrofuloderma associated with tuberculous osteomyelitis and pulmonary tuberculosis respectively.         진주 정촌면 백악기 공룡·익룡발자국 화석산지의 재질특성 및 보존방안 연구

        2017년 말 뿌리일반산업단지 조성과정에서 발견된 진주 정촌면 백악기 공룡·익룡발자국 화석산지는 다양한 종류의 공룡과 익룡, 동물의 흔적화석이 높은 밀집도로 보존되어 고생물학적 가치가 높은 자연유산이다. 이 연구에서는 화석산지의 현장조사를 통해 절리, 균열, 박리, 박락, 세편화 등 물리적 풍화가 발생하여 있음을 확인하고, 손상을 저감하기 위한 보존과학적 기초 연구를 수행하였다. 이를 위해 발굴 후 확인된 8개의 층준 중 수각류 발자국 화석이 다량 산출된 Level 3 층준과 익룡 발자국 화석이 산출된 Level 4 층준의 암석을 수습하여 재질분석 및 강화제와 접착제의 효과 검증 평가를 수행하였다. 이 결과, Level 3 층준의 암석은 암회색 실트암, Level 4의 암석은 암회색 셰일로 구성되어 있었으며 이들은 방해석을 다량 함유한 가운데 석영, 사장석, 운모, 알칼리장석, 기타 점토광물로 이루어져 외부 환경 하에서 강우에 따른 손상 가능성이 높을 것으로 판단된다. 수습 시료를 공시체로 제작하여 미처리, 강화제 처리, 팽윤저지제 처리, 접착제 처리의 네 그룹으로 나누어 인공풍화 실험을 수행한 결과, 강화제와 팽윤저지제는 처리 직후에는 효과를 보였으나 동결-융해 환경 하에서는 저지효과를 보이지 못하는 것으로 해석 되었다. 접착제는 동결-융해 조건 하에서도 접착 효과가 유지되는 모습을 보였다. 향후 정촌면 화석산지의 보존을 위해서는 수분의 유입 차단을 위한 임시 방책 외에도 기 손상 화석의 응급 보존처리 및 보호시설 건립 등 실질적인 대처방안이 마련되어야 할 것이다. The Tracksite of Cretaceous Dinosaurs and Pterosaurs in Jeongchon, Jinju was discovered in late 2017 during the construction of the Ppuri industry complex. This site is a natural heritage site with a high paleontological value, as it preserves fossils of various types of dinosaurs, pterosaurs, and animal traces at a dense concentration. In this study, we surveyed that physical weathering such as joint, crack, scaling, exfoliation, and fragmentation occurred through field research in the fossil site, and conducted basic research on conservation science to reduce the damage. To this end, among the eight levels identified after excavation, the rocks of Level 3, which yielded a large number of theropod footprint fossils, and Level 4, which yielded pterosaur footprint fossils, were analyzed for material characteristics and evaluation of the effectiveness of consolidation and adhesion. This results showed that the rocks in the Level 3 stratum were dark gray siltstone and the rocks in the Level 4 stratum were dark gray shale, which contained a large amount of calcite and were composed of quartz, plagioclase, mica, alkali feldspar, and other clay minerals, which are likely to be damaged by rainfall under external conditions. As a result of conducting an artificial weathering experiment by dividing the probationary sample into four groups: untreated, consolidation treatment, anti-swelling treatment, and adhesive treatment, the consolidation and the swelling inhibitor showed an effect immediately after treatment, but did not show a blocking effect under a freezing-thawing environment. The adhesive showed that the adhesive effect was maintained even under freezing-thawing conditions. In order to preserve the fossil sites at Jeongchon in the future, in addition to temporary measures to block the inflow of moisture, practical measures such as the construction of protective facilities should be prepared.

        HaCaT 세포주에서 Epigallocatechin-3-Gallate (EGCG)가 자외선 및 LPS에 의한 iNOS mRNA 발현 및 NO 생성에 미치는 영향

        N/A Background: Nitric oxide (NO) plays an important role in inflammation and multiple stages of carcinogenesis. Green tea (Camellia sinensis polyphenols are potent antiinflammatory agents and have been shown to inhibit NO production in tumor cell lines. In the present study, we examined the effect of epigallocatechinp-3-gallate (EGCG), a generation of NO in HaCaT cells. Methods: HaCaT cells were treated with 10μM EGCG and 100μM NAC for 1 hour. 1 hour later, they were irradiated with 50mJ/cm^2 UVB and treated with 200 u㎍/ml LPS for 12 hours, respectively. The iNOS mRNA was determined by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and NO production was assessed by spectrophotometric method based on Griess reaction. Nuclear factor κB (NF-κB) binding activity was determined by electophoretic mobility shift assay (EMSA). Results: The results were as follows 1. EGCG inhibited UVB and LPS induced expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase. 2. HaCaT cells cotreated with EGCG produced significantly less iNOS mRNA and NO compared with HaCaT cells stimulated with UVB irradiation of LPS. 3. The inhibition of iNOS mRNA and NO production correlated with the suppression of expression of NF-κB dependent gene iNOS. 4. EGCG inhibited the activation and translocation of NF-κB to the nucleus Conclusion: inhibited the activation and translocation of NF-κB to the nucleus in HaCaT cells by interfering with the activation of NF-κB through a novel mechanism. Our results further suggest that EGCG may be therapeutically effective in UVB and cytokine induced cutaneous inflammation. (Korean J Dermatol 2004;42(1):37~46)

        N/A For the disabled persons who can`t use their limbs, motorized wheelchair that is activate by voice recognition module employing speaker independent method, was implemented. The wireless voice transfer device was designed and employed for the user convenience. And the wheelchair was designed to operate using voice and keypad by selection of the user because they can manipulate it using keypad if necessary. The speaker independent method was used as the voice recognition module in order that anyone can manipulate the wheelchair in case of assistance. Using the implemented wheelchair, performance and motion of the system was examined and it has over than 97% of voice recognition rate and proper movements.

        Translation of terminology in Korean in the field of medicine has been one of the important tasks since several decades in Korea. Translation of medical terminology is deeply indebted by the Japanese scholars and direct adaptation of their work by the Korean scholars was the main trend since long time ago. It is because of we are sharing both Chinese character and the similar grammar structure. Although some modification and addition of new translation which is more suitable in the Korean language system has been tried in the different level in the past editions of English-Korean medical terminology books, extensive work has been performed in the 4th edition which was published by the Korean Medical Association in 2001. The Korean Dermatological Association has published first edition of dermatology terminology book in 1983 and the 2nd edition in 1993. Many of them adapted in the 4th edition of the terminology book of the Korean Medical Association. However, there are many changes including some new trial with innovative ideas. This special article covers the difference of two terminology books between 4th edition published by the Korean Medical Association and the 2nd edition of Korean Dermatology Association, which was summarized in the Table.         N/A The tinnitus which is the one of the auditory disease is a phenomenon that the patients feel the sound in the ear or the head when there is no sound sources. There have been many therapies for this tinnitus so far, but it is known that the TRT(Timmitus Retraining Therapy) is the most effective therapy. So we designed and developed the controllable white noise generator for TRT. It must be designed as small as possible for user`s convenience, such as the ITE (In The Ear) type hearing aids. It used the thermal noise as the white noise source. And filter and tone control circuits are used at the end of the noise generation part to control the white noise characteristics. This link of the controllable circuits is used to change the white noise`s characteristic for the various tinnitus patients` characteristic. We can confirm that the designed and implemented controllable white noise generator which is a ITE type operates properly by the experiments of filter and tone control circuit.

        포터블 뇌파 바이오피드백 시스템을 위한 전치증폭기 및 DSP 하드웨어의 설계

        본 논문에서는 포터블 뇌파 바이오피드백시스템을 위한 전치증폭부 및 디지털 신호처리부의 하드웨어 구현에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 뇌파의 특성을 고려하여 외부 잡음을 제거할 수 있는 뇌파 획득용 전치증폭부를 구현하였다. 측정된 뇌파에는 안전도, 근전도, 심전도 등의 신호들이 포함되어 있으며 이들은 뇌파 분석에 방해가 된다. 따라서 이러한 신호들을 제거하기 위하여 적응여파기 알고리듬을 수행하고 전치증폭부를 실시간으로 구동하는 디지털신호처리부를 구현하였다. 시뮬레이션 파형과 실제 뇌파를 적용한 실험결과를 통하여 개발된 시스템의 성능을 확인할 수 있었으며 휴대형 뇌파 바이오피드백 시스템에 적용 가능함을 확인하였다. In this study, we carried out a study for implementation of the pre-amplifier and the digital signal processing part for the potable EEG biofeedback system. As we consider characteristics of the EEG signal, we designed the pre-amplifier to obtain the EEG signal to be reduced noise signal. Because the EEG signal include EOG, EMG, ECG signals etc, it is difficult to analyze of the EEG signal. Therefore, we developed DSP board and operation program which was embed the LMS adaptive filter algorithm and operate with the pre-amplifier in the real time. The simulation signal and pure EEG signal is used in the experiment. As the result, we confirmed good efficiency of developed system and possibility of application to the portable EEG biofeedback system.

        레이저 치료 후 포도주색 모반에서 발생한 다발성 화농성 육아종

        Pyogenic granuloma (PG) and port-wine stain (PWS) are vascular lesions that rarely occur in association. While PWSs are congenital capillary vascular malformations, PGs are acquired benign vascular proliferations. Although the pathogenesis of PG is unknown, many authors feel that they represent reactive hyperplasias, especially as they are often seen in response to trauma. We report the multiple pyogenic granulomas developed in a port-wine stain following Nd-YAG laser therapy. (Korean J Dermatol 2003;41(4) 535~537)
