High noise of low frequency was observed in accommodation and outdoor area of the semi-submersible drilling rig when diesel generators were operated. Various experimental investigations had been carried out to find out the causes of the low frequency noise and the proper countermeasures to solve the problem. According to the investigation results, low frequency component of exhaust noise and acoustic - vibration resonance were the main causes of the low frequency noise in accommodation and outdoor area.

Many company and organization have developed the programs to calculate HVAC(Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) system robe and the results of calculation are very similar to each other becauuse of same references(NEBB, SMACNA etc.) Duct pressure loss and required air volume are basic items Id determine the noise source. In this study, we daveloped the program to calculate duct pressure loss and air volume which are based on ISO 7547,ASHRAE and SMACNA. In calculating HVAC noise, much time is required to model duct system. We, therefore, developed automatic duct modeling program.
