Objective: The purpose of this study is to analyze the differences between male and female by patient, mental disease, age, work period, and industry on the characteristics of work-related mental disease. And the study suggests the preventive measures of work-related mental disease according to the analysis results. Background: Work-related mental disease is caused by depression, job stress, and high job demands. According to statistics of industrial accidents, the number of people diagnosed with work-related mental disease is increasing every year. But the study on the causes and preventions of work-related mental disease hasn"t almost been conducted. Method: Based on statistics of work-related mental disease provided by the Ministry of Employment and Labor, the characteristics of work-related mental disease were analyzed for 195 people. Results: According to analysis, patient of work-related mental disease accounted for 60.3% males and 96.6% females, and mortality of work-related mental disease accounted for 39.7% males and 3.4% females. It was found that work-related mental disease by work period was the highest at 28.2% in "less than 1 year". The work-related mental disease by industry was the highest at 56.3% in the service industry. Conclusion: Based on this study, mental counseling and development of mental health care programs are needed to reduce the patient of work-related mental disease. In addition, suicide prevention programs are needed to reduce mortality of work-related mental disease. Considering the work period, it should be implemented workplace adaptation programs for new employees. Application: These results can contribute to prevention of work-related mental disease. And it can be used as basic data for research on work-related mental disease.
