Vol.8 No.-

Under the COVID-19 pandemic, this study explored the changes in perception toward multicultural families through big-data analytics of news articles. On the basis of the findings, it discussed policy support measures that would help members of multicultural families. This study was based on online news articles to analyze the perceptual changes toward multicultural families during the COVID-19 era and employed a news big-data analysis system called “BIGKinds” to collect news articles. As a search term, “multicultural family” was used, and online news articles published between 2019 and 2020 were collected to compare before and after the pandemic. The analysis of related keywords to “multicultural families” that appeared in the 2020 news articles revealed that negative related keywords have increased compared to those published in 2019, the pre-pandemic period. On the basis of such results, this study suggested several support measures for multicultural families in the era of the pandemic as follows. First, it is important to provide psychological and emotional support for these families. Second, it is necessary to recognize the flaws in news reports on multicultural families and to remedy the situation. Third, it is required to establish social networks centered on areas where multicultural families reside, which can lead to a high level of awareness of disaster-related public services. The reduction behavior of low level oxides such as (T.Fe), (MnO) and (P2O5) in molten EAF slag was investigated using commercial reductants. In an air atmosphere, the slag volume increased and the reduction rate of the slag was very low due to the oxidation loss of reductants by oxygen in the air. The reduction rate of the slag was also low when a commercial reductant was used alone in an Ar gas atmosphere. The reason is probably because the material transfer through the interface between the slag and reductant is difficult due to the formation of high melting point oxide. When reductants were mixed with burnt lime in order to form low melting point reaction products, the reduction rate of the slag increased up to the range of 45-70%. By using the mixtures of reductants and burnt lime so as to form a low melting point slag at the reaction end, the reduction rate of the slag was improved up to 60-85%.

Objectives: This study aimed to develop a tool for assessing foreigners` understanding of oral health information in Korea called the Test of Korean Functional Health Literacy in Dentistry(TOKFHLiD) and examined validity and reliability of the tool. The TOKFHLiD consists of two literacy assessment parts: Dental Information Sentence(DIS) aims to assess one`s literacy of sentences containing oral health information. Dental Information Document(DID) aims to assess one`s numeracy and literacy of documents containing oral health information. Methods: Twenty eight preliminary questions were developed based on various medical care literature such as the agreement to diagnosis and treatment and the treatment precautions. DID using 14 preliminary questions was developed based on the appointment card, the treatment schedule, and labels on oral care products. The 42 preliminary questions in the DIS and the DID were subsequently put through four separate expert reviews, in which questions with content validity score of less than 0.8(13/15 points) were corrected and modified by five dental experts and then were corrected for language errors by two Korean language experts. The preliminary assessment tool was tested on 153 Koreans, and χ2 test was performed on the ratio of respondents who comprehended each question, the ratio of respondents who chose the correct answer for each question with a significance level of 0.05. Results: Of the 42 preliminary questions, 1 question in DIS and 1 question in DID, for which the ratio of Korean respondents who chose the correct answers did not exceed the acceptable level of 80%, were excluded and a final assessment tool was completed with 40 questions. Conclusions: Following the development and application of the tool, examination of the TOKHLiD for validity and reliability revealed that this assessment tool is adequate for assessing oral health information literacy of foreigners who are using oral hygiene medical services in Korea.
