The layering thickness affects quality of the products processed in the solid freeform fabrication system (SFFS) that uses selective laser sintering (SLS). It is broadly recommended that the layering thickness should be between 100 and 150 ㎛ if the average size of the powder particles is around 50 ㎛. In this paper, specimens are produced using varied layering thicknesses of 60, 80, 100, 120, 140, and 160 ㎛ under the same processing conditions, i.e., build-room temperature, feed-room temperature, roller speed, laser power, scan speed, and scan spacing. The specimens are tested to measure thickness accuracy, flatness, stress-strain characteristics, and peeling between the laminated layers. Optimal layering thickness for the developed industrial SFFS is recommended from the analysis.

In this article, I have analyzed Keith Haring`s art work, which was borrowed from cartoonish attribute to visualize the communication in their realistic meaning. I also studied how his art works delivered to the appreciators with using text forms of semiology. Through this study, I came to the conclusion that the interpretation of art works using semiology brought objectivity within visual communication and expressed artists` message to closest of their true meaning. Indeed, I also found out that the Intermediation of understanding between artist and appreciator not only means to deliver an artist`s message to an appreciator, but also process of reinvention by an appreciator. Therefore using semiology to interpret art works brought common understanding of art works between artists and appreciators which could be acknowledged as amalgamation of recognition.

본 논문에서는 시각적 소통이라는 관점에서 키스 헤링(Keith Haring)의 작품에 차용된 만화적 속성의 실제적 의미를 파악하였다. 또한 기호학의 텍스트형식을 이용하여 수용자에게 어떻게 전달되는지를 분석하였다. 이를 통해 기호학을 이용한 예술작품의 해석은 시각적 소통이라는 관점에서 객관성을 도모하고 행위자의 메시지를 최대한 가깝게 전달 할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 예술가와 수용자간의 소통의 매개과정은 일방적인 의미전달 뿐만 아니라 의미의 재창조 과정임을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 기호학을 이용한 작품의 해석은 예술가와 수용자 상호간의 수평적 인식의 융합의 한 방법으로 판단된다. 산업용 임의형상제작(Solid Freeform Fabrication)시스템의 공정변수 최적화

This paper presents experimental optimization of process parameters for a newly developed SFF(Solid Freeform Fabrication) system. Two critical process parameters, layering thickness and curing period, which have a large effect on the quality of the product, are optimized through experiments. Specimens are produced using layering thicknesses of 60, 80, 100, 120, 140, and 160 ㎛ and curing periods of 0, 10, 20, and 30 minutes under the same processing conditions, i.e., build-room temperature, feed-room temperature, roller speed, laser power, scan speed, and scan spacing. The specimens are tested to compare and analyze performance indices such as thickness accuracy, flatness, stress-strain characteristics, and porosity. The experimental result indicates that layering thickness of 80~100 ㎛ and curing period of 20~30 minutes are recommended for the developed industrial SFF system.

This paper presents a real-time temperature controller for the industrial SFFS. The SLS (Selective Laser Sintering) process of the SFFS requires the temperature of the powder surface to be maintained close to the melting point. But the build-room temperature should not exceed a set point to prevent the previously sintered part from curling. The developed SFFS has two independently controlled upper and lower heaters. The heaters are controlled through SCR (Silicon Control Rectifier) and SSR (Solid-State Relay) by the control PC.

This paper presents the optimal process control of newly developed SFFS (Solid Freeform Fabrication System). The process control of SFFS consists of nitrogen supplement, temperature setting, powder laminating, and laser sintering. The temperature setting has three steps of preheating, sustaining, and cooling as the process progresses. Powder laminating and laser sintering are carried out sequentially when the temperature reaches the desired point. The process is controlled by a PC-based controller which also supports a user-friendly interface and easy access for the parameters setting.
