고만건,고복래,송완엽,김형무 전북대학교 농업과학기술연구소 2001 農大論文集 Vol.32 No.1
The pathogen causing bacterial stripe of red rice(Oryza sativa) was isolated and identified in rice field. Bacterial cell size was 0.5~1.0 × 1.5~3.0 ㎛, a single polar flagellum and rod type, and growth at 41℃, nonfluorescent, PHB accumulation, and no response occurred in hypersensitive reaction test on the tobacco leaves. This bacterium was positive in catalase, nitrate reduction, starch hydrolysis, lipid hydrolysis and negative in arginine dihydrolase, gelatine hydrolysis, oxidase, lecithinase and not utilization of L-arginine, and utilized glucose, mannitol, sorbitol, D-tartrate, whereas negative in L-rhamnose, sucrose and trehalose for growth. Colonies of this bacterium were 2 mm in diameter, smooth, round, convex, cream color and had precipitation round of colony after 3 days after incubation in YDC medium. The symptoms were water soaking and 10 cm brown stripe on the leaf 5 days after inoculation, and inhibition of the germination, curbing of the leaf sheath abnormal elongation of the mesocotyl. The causal organism isolated from stripe lesions was identified as Acidovorax avenae subsp. avenae according to pathogenicity, morphological, physiological characteristics and the result of the Biolog test kit and this is the first report in Korea.
