R&D 6시그마 導入 에 따른 新製品 開發의 成果에 관한 硏究

Although world best companies are adopting product development methods, which is basically based on customer needs, domestic companies seems to be lack of understanding customers’ potential needs. GE, one of the pioneer companies introducing six sigma approach in manufacturing, also initiated application of six sigma to R&D, which is called DFSS (Design For Six Sigma). In nature, DFSS has a process of combining concurrent engineering, NPD(New Product Development), and NPI(New Product Introduction), altogether. In this paper, we define a similar, but new, concept of R&D six sigma in terms of a combination of individual development process and development structure. Then, we suggest a hypothesis that R&D six sigma could have positive effects on product development performance. To prove this hypothesis, 300 manufacturing companies(home appliance, PC production oriented electronic industry and car manufacturing companies) were sampled, and surveyed. The result shows that introducing a R&D six sigma has effects on product development, and users of R&D six sigma approach could obtain better performances in their product development than non users.

지금까지 6시그마 경영과 연계한 경영혁신활동은 주로 제조업을 중심으로 이루어져 왔으며 연구기관의 경영혁신활동은 제한적으로 운영되어 추진사례를 찾기 어려웠다. 이 논문에서는 직접적인 연구활동과 연구부문의 효율적 지원을 위한 경영혁신활동을 수행한 사례로서 한국과학기술연구원(KIST)의 경우를 소개하고자 한다. 이 사례는 사무간접부문에서의 혁신활동과도 차이가 있다. 또한 KIST에서의 그 동안의 성과와 앞으로의 추진방향에 대하여도 살펴보고자 한다.

최근 6시그마 경영혁신 방법론의 연구개발분야에 대한 적용이 매우 활발히 추진되고 있다. 흔히 NPI(New Product Introduction)라고 불리는 GE(General Electric)사의 신제품개발방법론은 제품개발프로세스에 6시그마 경영을 구현한 많은 사례중의 하나로, 기존의 연구개발 프로세스를 혁신하는 데 괄목한 한 만한 성장을 가져오고 있는 기법이다. 그간 국내에서는 주로 전자업종을 중심으로 하여 NPI를 도입, 확산되어 왔는바, 본 논문은 음식료 및 화학업종인 제일제당에서 식품 및 화장품 개발프로세스에 GE의 NPI를 적용하여, 자사의 독특한 신제품개발혁신 모형을 전개한 품질혁신의 사례를 정리한 것이다. 이러한 경험은 전자, 화학 등 이외의 다른 산업으로 이들 기법들이 효과적으로 확산될 수 있도록 기여를 할 수 있을 것으로 기대 된다.

"Single PPM 품질" 추진에 의한 공공행정 생산성향상 사례 : 충청남도

Today, customer satisfaction, principle or methodology of the management of the private companies, is also a very important concept in the productivity improvement of public sector, which in turn enhances the total competitiveness of a nation. The experiences of the single ppm quality innovation, in which customer driven approach plays key role and mainly tested in the manufacturing processes of the private sector, could be shared in the public sector This paper is concerned with the single PPM quality certification system designed for public administration organizations and to show how productivity can be improved through the implementation case of Chungcheongnam-do, which is the first one certified among the Korea's administrative organizations. The major points of the single ppm quality innovation in the public sector is that the processes are reformed by the establishment of innovative and practical objectives through real measurements of the quality levels in current operations and services. To do this, the internal quality guarantee structure builds 9 categories of the single ppm certification system and tries to assure the defect rate below 10 per 100 times in the operations and services level. This study shows the possibilities of successful application of the single ppm quality innovation methodologies to the public sector management.
