The combustion of pulverized coal injection is widely used in iron making blast furnace. In this study, various operational conditions including the position of nozzle, injection pattern of the pulverized coal size, inlet temperature of the hot blast and different kind of the pulverized coal are taken into consideration. A prediction of pulverized coal combustion behavior has been developed for coal flow and combustion in tuyere and raceway of a blast furnace using commercial CFD code FLUENT. The simulation results indicate that as the nozzle length is increased, lift length of the flame increases and as the coal size is decreased, flame length increases and as the carbon element of the coal contents is increased, high temperature zone increases and as the volatile matter of the coal contents is increased, the combustion reaction rate increases in the early stage. Consequently, the obtained results have provided a useful insight into the operation of pulverized coal combustion, and they enable us to further improve the blast furnace performance in the future.

This study was carried out to develop an efficient plant growth system that can be controlled by altering the wavelength and illumination using a LED module. If it is possible to develop a system that can be controlled in this manner, utilizing different characteristics in the meaningful wavelength band depending on the growth time or type of plant, the plant growth conditions can be optimized. In order to this, red, green, blue and white LEDs are arrayed in a rectangle, consisting of LED modules which can be combined with each other. Consequently, the array can be used to select the optimal light conditions with monochromatic red, green, blue and white LEDs, or mixed LEDs, for plant growth. Experiments on the characteristics of the wavelengths to evaluate the efficiency of the plant growth system were performed. The usefulness of the system was demonstrated through a cultivation test involving several special plants.

This study was carried out to evaluate the plant growth rate according to the wavelength characteristics of LED light sources. In order to achieve this, red, green, blue and white LEDs were arrayed in a rectangle array consisting of LED modules which can be combined with each other.. This can facilitate the selection of the optimal characteristics of the light from monochromatic red, green, blue and white LEDs or mixed LEDs for plant growth. Experiments to evaluate the growth rate according to the wavelength characteristics of the LEDs with several plants, in this case ice plants, lettuce, barley, broccoli and chives, were performed.

For the pier of a light railway bridge, a composite hollow column, which had enhanced strength and light weight, was suggested. In this study, its nonlinear analysis model was developed and a parametric study was performed. The suggested column model considered the confining effect and the material nonlinearity of concrete. To verify the suggested column model, its analysis results were compared with the test results from previous researchers. They showed that the suggested column model was reasonable and had accep도표 accuracy. The results from parametric studies showed that the thickness of the internal tube, concrete strength, and the hollow ratio of a hollow composite column significantly affected its behavior.
