In cases of anterior crossbite patients, there are many problems. They are dissatisfied with facial appearance and in difficulties for speaking, and sometimes are related to reduced vertical dimension. Vertical dimension is defined distances between two points which one is on maxilla and the other is on mandible. Loss of vertical dimension may causes temporomandibular disorder, loss of masticatory function, and collapse of occlusion. This is a clinical study of 50 years old male with reduced vertical dimension and anterior-crossbite. We treated patient with fixed bridge and conventional removable partial denture, and then the activity of masseter and temporalis muscle were recorded and analyzed by means of Biopak?? system(Bioresearch Inc., Millwakee Wisconsin). The result was satisfactory functionally and esthetically.
골유착성 임플랜트지지 Overdenture 에 관한 임상적 연구

It is easy relatively to establish the treatment panning because the implant placement can be possible to the location for not only the esthetic aspect but also the proper retention and support using the implant in the case of the overdenture procedure. If the accurate diagnosis, the detailed planning, the careful surgical operation and the through oral hygiene maintenance of the patient is established, it can be assumed that the prognosis is favorable and the high success rate is expected. The firm understanding of the concept of occlusion is needed for the longterm success of the osseointegrated implant prosthetics. The occlusion recommended for the overdenture is the fully balanced occlusion in relation to these clinical cases, and in some cases the lingualized occlusion can be recommended also to provide the lateral force as less as possible. The implant supported overdentures using the O-ring, bar, and magnet attachment were fabricated with the good clinical results such as the improved retention, the esthetics, and the stability in patients with overdentures in these clinical cases. Better selection of the attachment system in the overdenture supported by osseo-integrated fixtures must be established through the exact understanding of the bio-mechanics about the implant, the maintenance of the oral hygiene, the meticuluous consideration of the different oral environment existed in the every patient. It must be kept in mind that the establishment of proper jaw relationships, the occlusion, the esthetics, and the function depend on the success rate.
Dual Survey Line 을 이용한 가철성 국소의치의 설계에 대한 임상적 연구
계기성,김민정,김정선 朝鮮大學校 口腔生物學硏究所 1998 口腔生物學硏究 Vol.22 No.2
Surveying is an essential step in the design and construction of partial dentures. The survey line is a line drawn round the greatest girth of a tooth in relation to the common path of displacement or to the path of insertion and removal of denture. The common path of displacement of denture is at right angles to the occlusal surface, as this is the direction of the displacing forces exerted on the denture by sticky food. Claps arms must therefore engage undercuts relative to the common path of displacement to provide retention of the denture. The path of insertion and removal is the path along which the denture is inserted into the mouth and removed from the mouth. This path must be decided before the denture is designed. The purpose of this study was to apply several principles of surveying so that it was necessary to understand how to position the clasps correctly in relation to the two survey lines in order to obtain optimum retention. In this clinical study of the bilateral extension removable partial denture of mandibular class I, the removable partial denture was fabricated b using dual survey line, and then the following results were obtained. 1. The proper clasp retention could be obtained by positioning the retentive clasp tip to the common undercut below the dual survey line in relation to both the common path of displacement and the path of insertion and removal. 2. In the free end removable partial denture, giving the cast an anterior tilt reduced the possible zone of displacement, and therefore it could keep the denture form displacement in functioning.
