기계펌프를 사용하지 않고 간단한 공기흡착을 이용하여 기공구조를 지닌 물질의 비표면적을 구하였다. 공기흡착법은 공기를 흡착기체로 사용하며 빈 셀과 비표면적을 이미 알고 있는 기준시료를 사용하여 물리상수를 구하고 이를 이용하여 미지 물질의 비표면적을 구하는 방법이다. 기준시료와 미지시료와의 비표면적의 차이가 크면 정확도가 떨어졌다. 비표면적의 차이에 비례하여 정확도가 떨어지고 비표면적의 차이가 정확도에 영향을 미치는 것을 이용하여 보정곡선을 구하였다. 본 연구에서 측정된 비표면적의 신뢰도는 물리상수에 크게 의존하게 되며, 시료표면의 조성이 동일하거나 유사한 경우에는 물리상수를 이용하여 신뢰할 수 있는 비표면적을 구할 수 있다. 그러나, 시료표면의 조성이 다를 경우에는 새로운 물리상수를 구해야 하며 보정곡선을 새로 만들어야 한다. Specific surface area has been obtained by using air adsorption method which is simpler than other conventional method. Physical constants are obtained from standard materials having known specific surface area, and specific surface areas of unknown samples are calculated by using the physical constants. It has been observed that the larger surface area difference between standard and unknown samples resulted in the lower measurement accuracy. Since the measurement accuracy decreased linearly with the specific surface area difference between unknown and standard samples, a correction curve could be obtained. Reliability of specific surface area investigated in this study strongly depended on the physical constants. If the surface structure of unknown material is different from that of standard material, new physical constant should be recalculated. The air adsorption method was, however, effective for the material that has same or similar surface structure as that of standard material.
