This paper is to introduce the notion of wise egoism. In the notion of oriental tradition, egoism has been treated as an anti-social principle of conduct. But the egoism is the foundation of western philosophy of individualism and liberalism. Furthermore, the concept of wise egoism has been studied for the new interpretation of sane structure of social entities. This paper also revisits the basic theory of Kant"s moral philosopy. For the new interpretation of wise egoism, this paper further introduced the philosophy of Loss"s revised categorica; imperatives.
FABRICATION AND MEASUREMENT OF SUSPENDED SILICON CARBIDE NANOWIRE DEVICES AND DEFLECTION

In this paper, we report the measurement of the deflection of β-SiC nanowires supported at both ends. Such wires hold promise as active elements in NEMS/MEMS devices. To ensure the stable mechanical clamping and electrical contacts between electrodes and nanowires, we have developed a method of metal deposition to improve the contacts. This method consists of multiple depositions at different angles in order to avoid the shadow effect and reduce the compressive residual stress. The improvement of the contacts was verified via SEM observation and electrical transport measurements. To suspend the nanowire, a dielectric layer underneath was removed, followed by critical point drying. The change of electrical resistance was measured when the suspended nanowires were deflected by either capillary forces arising from the surface tension or electrostatic forces.

The microstructure evolution during mechanical alloying (MA) of Nb and Sn powder; of average composition $Nb_3Sn$, has been investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD). The structural development with milling time depends on the ball size for a given powder/ball ratio. Using a larger ball of 9.5 mm diameter, the elemental powders initially alloy mechanically to form an A15 structure phase, and then amorphized with continued milling. However, in case of milling with a smaller ball of 3.968 mm diameter, an amorphous phase is first formed. These results can be understood by considering the dependence of the milling energy on the ball size. The homogeneous stoichiometric $Nb_3Sn$ phase could be easily obtained by heat treatment of supersaturated solid solution produced by MA. Heat treatment of an amorphous formed by MA resulted in the mixture of the $Nb_3Sn$ and $Nb_6Sn_5$phases. 조성이 $Nb_3Sn$인 Nb와 Sn 혼합분말에 대해 기계적 합금화 과정중의 미세구조 변화를 X선회절실험으로 관찰하였다. 분쇄시간에 따른 결정구조 변화는 볼/분말미와 볼의 크기에 따라 변하였다. 지름이 9.5mm인 볼을 사용한 경우, 각 분말들이 초기에는 기계적으로 합금되어 A15구조를 갖는 상을 형성하였고, 그 이후에는 비정질화가 이루어졌다. 지름이 작은 3.968mm인 볼을 사용한 경우 초기에 비정질화하였다. 이들 결과들은 볼크기에 따라 분쇄에너지 효과가 다르기 때문이라고 생각될 수 있다. 순수한 $Nb_3Sn$ 화학양론조성의 상이 기계적 합금화 방법으로 제조된 과포화 고용체를 열처리하여 쉽게 얻어졌다. 기계적 합금화로 비정질화된 분말을 열처리한 경우, Nb3Sn과 Nb6Sn5상의 혼합물이 얻어졌다.
