모드잠금 고리형 광섬유 레이저 출력의 단열 쏠리톤 펄스압축에 의해 $1545{\sim}1550\;nm$ 파장영역에서 400 ??토초의 안정성이 뛰어난 변환제한급의 10 GHz의 광 펄스를 발생시켰다. 특별한 슈퍼모드 선택소자를 사용하지 않고도 -123 dB/Hz 이하의 슈퍼모드 비팅 잡음 억제에 의해 $1\;kHz{\sim}100\;MHz$의 잡음대역에서 100 ??토초 미만의 낮은 시간 지터를 얻었다. We report 400 femto-second highly stable, nearly transform-limited, pulse generation at 10 GHz in $1540{\sim}1550$ nm wavelength region by adiabatic soliton pulse compression of an actively mode-locked fiber ring laser output. Without using any supermode selection device, supermode beating noise has been suppressed below -123 dB/Hz, resulting less than 100 femto-second timing jitters at the noise band of $1\;kHz{\sim}100\;MHz$.

We demonstrate binary spectral phase coded waveform discrimination at 10 GHz for narrow band optical code-division multiple-access (NB-OCDMA) via direct electrical detection without using any optical hard-limiter. Only 9 phase-locked, 10 GHz spaced, spectral lines within a 100 GHz spectral window are used for the phase coding. Considerably high contrast ratio of 5 between signal and multiuser access interference noise can be achieved for 4 × 10 G pulse/sec timing coordinated OCDMA at a simple electrical receiver with 50 GHz bandwidth.

We examine the principle of a modified Pound-Drever-Hall (PDH) technique to measure the free spectralrange of a Fabry-Perot etalon (FPE). The FPE’s periodic transmission of phase-modulated light allowsus to adopt a sampling theorem to develop a new relationship for the PDH error signal. This leads usto find the key parameters governing the measurement accuracy: the phase modulation index β and theFPE finesse. Without any additional complexity for background noise reduction, we achieve a measurementaccuracy of 0.5 ppm. The improvement is mainly attributed to the wide-band phase modulation approachingβ = 10, and partly to the use of both reflected and transmitted light from the FPE and good FPE finesse
Arbitrary Waveform Generation via Spectral Line-by-Line Pulse Shaping on Mode-Locked Pulse

We have built a grating-based, high-resolution, spectral line-by-line pulse shaper. By controlling individual spectral lines of a mode-locked laser output, we demonstrate the interesting functionalities of the pulse shaper for arbitrary waveform generation, such as width tunable pulse generation, phase controlled waveform generation, microwave waveform generation, etc.
